TO ATTACH THE BACK POSTS AND BACK SPINDLES:
2)
Place the Seat (D3) face up o your work surface. Spread glue evenly in the holes for the back posts
and back spindles. (A sheet of cardboard under the seat will prevent glue from running onto the work
surface.) Insert the Back Posts (EE) into the two outside holes. Be sure the slot in the bottom of each
post is crosswise to the wood grain to prevent the seat from splitting when the wedges are inserted,
as shown in FIGURE 4.
Put the three Back spindles (FF) into the holes between the back posts. Be sure the shoulders of the
back posts and back spindles are seated against the top of the seat. See FIGURE 2.
TO ATTACH THE BACK:
3) Note: When attaching the Back (G), we recommend laying the seat/back spindle assembly on its
back on a protected surface, so that it is resting on the spindles. See FIGURE 3. This will prevent
the glue from dripping onto the posts, spindles, or seat. (There may be glue on the bottom of the
seat. Be careful not to get it on clothing.)
Spread glue evenly into each of the holes in the Back (G). Start the back onto the Back Posts (EE),
then guide the Spindles (FF) into the holes. Be sure the shoulders of the posts are seated against
the back. It may be necessary to tap on the back with a rubber mallet or padded hammer to make
sure the back posts and back spindles are all the way in.
