11. Replacing the Bar and Chain
WARNING
• Always wear protective gloves when handling the
bar and chain. These components are sharp and
may contain burrs.
• Never touch or adjust the chain while the motor
is running.
NOTICE: When replacing the guide bar and chain,
always use the specified bar and chain combination
listed in this manual.
Disassembling the Worn Bar and Chain
a. Remove the battery, allow the saw to cool, then
tighten the oil-tank cap (J).
b. Position the pruning saw on its side on a firm,
flat surface, so that the side cover (H) is facing
up.
c. Lift the tab and rotate the side-cover knob (G)
counterclockwise, then remove the side cover
(H). Clean the side cover with a dry cloth
(Fig. 11a).
d. Lift the kickback guard (E). Remove the bar and
saw chain from the mounting surface. Remove
the worn chain from the bar.
NOTICE: This is a good time to inspect the drive
sprocket for excessive wear or damage.
