Caution! With the phantom power switched on,
do not connect any microphones with unbal-
anced signal output to the jack as they could be
damaged.
5.1.2 PA PTT microphone
Connect a PA PTT microphone (e. g. the desk
microphone PA-4000PTT from MONACOR) to
channel 1 via the RJ45 jack PTT 1 (21). The
length of the connection cable may be up to 30 m.
5.1.3 Audio units
Connect units with line output level (CD player,
tape deck, tuner, mixer etc.) and balanced output
signals to the XLR jacks MIC / LINE INPUTS (20),
and set the corresponding selector switch MODE
(9) to position LINE. For stereo signals, connect
each stereo channel to an individual input.
Connect units with unbalanced output sig-
nals to the phono jacks LINE INPUTS 7 to 10
(18). Stereo signals at the respective jacks LEFT
and RIGHT are mixed in the unit to a mono sum.
With the corresponding selector switch MODE
(9), it is possible to switch over between the units
connected to the phono jacks and the micro-
phones connected to the XLR jacks MIC INPUTS
7 to 10 (19).
Audio sources with unbalanced output sig-
nals may also be connected to the XLR jacks
(20) of channels 2 to 6 if an adapter with the XLR
contacts 1 and 3 bridged is used. In order not to
damage the audio source, the phantom power
must be deactivated for this jack in any case
[switch PH.PWR (7) = OFF]!
5.2 Momentary pushbutton
for remote control of the chime
To be able to activate the chime also from a dis-
tance to the preamplifier, connections for a
momentary pushbutton are available. Connect
the momentary pushbutton to the screw termi-
nals CHIME REMOTE (22).
5.3 Power amplifier
Connect a two-channel power amplifier or two
one-channel power amplifiers to the XLR jacks
OUTPUT 1 and 2 (16).
If only one PA zone is required, connect a
one-channel power amplifier to the jack OUT-
PUT 1, and set all sliding switches MASTER
(2, 5) to position "1".
5.4 Recorder
An audio recorder may be connected to the jacks
REC (17). The recording level is independent of
the adjustment of the controls LEVEL (12) for the
two outputs. The signal of output 1 is applied to
the white jack LEFT and the signal of output 2 to
the red jack RIGHT.
5.5 Power supply and
emergency power supply
For continuous operation of the amplifier in case
of power failure, connect a 24 V emergency power
supply (e. g. PA-24ESP from MONACOR) to the
screw terminals EMERGENCY SUPPLY (15).
Note: If 24 V voltage of the emergency power supply is
present at the connections EMERGENCY SUPPLY, the
PA-1412MX cannot be switched off with the button
POWER (13). In case of a mains failure or when the but-
ton POWER is actuated for switching off, the unit is auto-
matically switched over to emergency power supply.
Finally connect the plug of the mains cable (14)
to a socket (230 V~ / 50 Hz).

manual may be reproduced in any form or by any means for any commercial use.
6 Operation
To prevent howling and switching noise, leave
the PA-1412MX switched off up to operating
step 5).
1) Set all controls LEVEL (4) and the two output
controls LEVEL (12) to position "0".
2) For the channels 1 to 3 select the priority:
channel 1: on the connected PTT micro-
phone (PRIORITY = ON),
channels 2 and 3: with the switches PRIORITY
(8). In the lower position ON the priority is
switched on.
3) With the sliding switch MASTER (5) select
separately for each channel to which output,
i. e. to which PA zone the respective channel
is to be switched:
output 1, 1 + 2 or 2.
4) For channels 2 to 10 adjust in each case with
the switch MODE (9) which unit is connected:
MIC
:
MIC —:
LINE:
If the low cut filter (200 Hz high pass) is
switched on, low-frequent noise is sup-
pressed and speech becomes easier to
understand.
In addition, for channels 7 to 10, the switch
MODE allows in each case to switch over
between a microphone connected to the XLR
jack (19) and a unit connected to the phono
jacks (18).
5) Switch on the PA-1412MX with the POWER
switch (13). The operating indication next to
the button lights up. Switch on the PA system
completely.
If an emergency power supply is con-
nected, the PA-1412MX is automatically
switched over to emergency power supply in
case of power failure.
6) Set the two output controls LEVEL (12) to
2
approx.
⁄
nected microphones and audio units with the
respective controls LEVEL (4). Leave the
controls in position "0" for all channels not
used.
7) Adjust the sound for the two outputs sepa-
rately with the controls (11) LOW for the bass
frequencies and HIGH for the high frequen-
cies.
8) Finally adjust the desired overall volume for
the outputs with the two controls LEVEL (12).
With music peaks the green LED "0" of the
level indication (10) should light up at the
most. In case of overload the red LED "+3"
lights up. In this case reduce the volume with
the corresponding control.
6.1 Chime
1) Set the chime with the sliding switch MAS-
TER (2) to the output 1, 1 + 2 or 2.
2) Prior to an announcement the chime can be
activated with the button
additional momentary pushbutton connected
to the terminal CHIME REMOTE (22). While
the chime is activated, the channels 4 to 10
are muted for the outputs to which the chime
is applied.
3) Adjust the chime volume with the control
CHIME (1).

opened for this purpose, only qual-
ified personnel is allowed to per-
form this. Prior to this, disconnect
the mains plug from the socket in
any case, otherwise there is the
danger of an electric shock!
6.2 PA PTT microphone PA-4000PTT
(available as a separate accessory)
The operating elements indicated here are
located on the desk microphone PA-4000PTT.
1) For the chime to sound prior to an announce-
ment when activating the TALK button, set
the switch CHIME on the rear side to position
ON (downwards).
2) For the microphone to take priority over chan-
nels 4 to 10, set the switch PRIORITY to posi-
tion ON.
3) For an announcement keep the TALK button
pressed and wait for the chime, if necessary.
