The ready switch is used to terminate the AC po-
wer to the shredder. It is recommended to place
the ready switch into the OFF position when the
shredder is not being used for a prolonged period
of time.
When the ready LED is lit, it lets the user know that
the wastebasket is inserted correctly and that the
shredder is turned on and ready for use. lf the rea-
dy LED does not light up, make sure that the plug
is plugged in and the basket is inserted correctly.
When the overheat LED is lit, turn off or unplug
the power cord from the AC outlet and wait at least
40 minutes . This will allow the motor to cool down.
When the basket becomes full, the bin full LED
will light up. The shredder will remain inoperable
until the wastebasket is emptied (3.5 „Emptying
the receptacle").
3 .3 Shredder capacity
The intimus 29 CP4 will shred up to sixteen sheets pa-
per and will accept paper widths up to 220 mm. When
shredding small material like envelopes, receipts or a
credit card insert them in the middle of the feed ope-
ning (Fig. 1/6).
3 .4 Shredding CD's/DVD's
When shredding CD's and DVD's always insert them
one at a time in the middle of the feed opening
(Fig. 1/6).
3 .5 Emptying the receptacle
When the basket becomes full, the bin full LED will
light up. Proceed as follows:
1 . Remove the receptacle from in front of the machi-
ne and empty its contents.
2 . Replace the empty receptacle under the machine
and push all the way to the back.
NOTE!
The machine will only run when the receptacle
is pushed completely into the machine!

3 .6 Cautions for operating
Caution!
Damage to the machine!
Ì When manually changing feed direction,
pause long enough for the motor to stop.
Ì Always turn off or unplug the shredder
prior to moving, cleaning or emptying the
wastebasket.
Ì Empty the wastebasket frequently to avoid
possible paper jams caused by shredded
material being pulled back into the cutter
assembly.

Malfunctions
Caution!
Danger of injury!
Be sure to keep fingers and any personal
effects away from the throat of the feed
opening while the shredder cutters are in
motion.
4 .1 Motor overload
The intimus 29 CP4 is equipped with an automatic
motor overload protection circuit.
The duty cycle for the intimus 29 CP4 is rated for 30
Min. ON/ 40 Min. OFF. The intimus 29 CP4 will auto-
matically terminate power in case of the following ab-
normal situations:
Operating the shredder at the maximum 16-sheet
capacity continuously for a prolonged period of
time.
Exceeding the shredding capacity, eg. inserting
more than sixteen sheets paper in one pass, or if
the paper is not fed squarely into the feed opening.
Both abnormal operations may result in the activation
of the automatic thermal motor overload protection
circuit, which terminates the power to the shredder.
A paper jam could cause the thermal motor overload
protection to terminate AC power to the motor. Never
allow the shredder to remain in a jammed condition
with the AC power turned on.
