1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Be sure to observe the following safety instructions when mounting and using this coupling bicycle carrier:
• Keep the operating instructions during the service life of the product
• Pass on the operating instructions to subsequent owners and users of the product.
NOTE: It is essential that you read these operating instructions carefully before starting to assemble the
coupling-mounted bicycle carrier! Pay particular attention to the safety instructions! Do not install and / or use
the product if you have any doubts about careful installation. Do not install or use the accessories if the
equipment supplied is not complete.
Warning
• Pay attention to the permitted axle load of the vehicle. The permitted axle load must not be exceeded when loading
bicycles. The tare weight of the coupling bicycle carrier is 18.2 kg!
• Maximum load capacity of the bicycle carrier: 60 kg (2 bicycles).
• The vehicle must be equipped with a type-approved trailer coupling (AHK) with a max. drawbar load of at least 40 kg -
minimum quality St 52-3 or GGG 52.
• D-value: Please observe the vehicle/coupling manufacturer's information on the permitted D-value of the coupling
ball with bracket (KmH). The D-value of the coupling ball with mounting (KmH) should be at least 7.6 kN, as it does not
act perpendicularly on the centre axis of the coupling ball. Instead of the D-value, the permitted trailer load GA and the
permitted total weight of the towing vehicle GK are often stated on older KmH. From this, the D-value of the KmH can
be calculated as follows: D = (9.81/1000) x (G[A] x G[K]) / (G[A] + G[K])D in [kN], G[A] in [kg], G[K] in [kg].
• When the coupling bicycle carrier is mounted, it must bear a number plate (number plate on the vehicle is invisible).
According to § 60 StVZO and § 5b SVG, the official registration number (number plate) of the vehicle must be repeated
on the coupling bike carrier. Before driving, mount a number plate on the coupling-bike carrier that matches that of
your vehicle!
Rear lighting equipment
• The rear lighting equipment of the vehicle is partially covered by the rear carrier system. The rear carrier system is
therefore provided with its own lighting and registration number. The scope of the light repetition depends on the date
of the first registration of the vehicle.
• On vehicles first registered before 01 January 1987, the rear fog light and reversing light of the rear carrier system do
not need to be ready for operation. The use of a 7-pin trailer socket is possible.
• On vehicles registered for the first time from 01 January 1987 to 31 December 1990, the reversing light on the rear
carrier system must also be ready for operation. The use of a 7-pin socket is possible if continuous positive (terminal
54g) is not used.
• On vehicles first registered on or after 01 January 1991, all standard rear lighting equipment of the vehicle must also
be repeated on the rear carrier system. Rear fog light and reversing light of the rear carrier system must be ready for
operation. By using a relay or a socket with a switch-off contact, it must be ensured that the rear fog light switches off
automatically on the vehicle when the rear carrier system is used or can be switched on again after removing the plug
(13-pin socket).
• In the case of vehicle versions for which type approval was first granted after 1 October 1998, load carriers or loads
carried must not obscure the third brake light of the vehicle. The third brake light must be visible on the right and left -
starting from the longitudinal axis of the vehicle - at a horizontal angle of 10°, upwards - starting from the upper edge
of the light - at a vertical angle of 10° and downwards - starting from the lower edge of the light - at a vertical angle
of 5°.
• If even one of these visibility conditions cannot be met, the third stop lamp must also be repeated on the rear suspen-
sion system.
