INSTALLATION
Carefully take the amplifier out of its box and remove the
packaging material as indicated. Consider that the
amplifier has a significant weight.
Once you have removed the packaging materials, place
the amplifier on a solid surface, able to resist the weight
of the amplifier and far from flammable materials.
The ACRH-4 must be installed on a solid and leveled
surface that prevents vibrations and allows an optimal
ventilation to dissipate the heat generated by the
operation of the equipment.
Never install the amplifier outdoors. Do not expose it to
rainfall or direct sunrays.
Make sure that the input voltage is 120 VAC +/- 10%.
As long as the ACRH-4 is connected to the AC power,
the tubes' filaments will always be working, thus making
the turning-on of the equipment immediate.
The equipment can remain turned on continuously;
however, turn it off when not in use in order to prevent
premature wearing. If the amplifier is to remain turned
off for long periods of time, it is recommended to unplug
it from the electrical outlet.
CAUTION: There is HIGH VOLTAGE inside the amplifier.
Never open the amplifier since you could be exposed to
a potentially lethal voltage, and it could annul the
warranty of the equipment.
CONNECTIONS AND OPERATION
Before you connect the amplifier to the AC power
source, the sources and the speakers must be
connected to the terminals on the amplifier.
When the ACRH-4 is connected for the first time,
resetting the system is necessary. To do this, turn on the
system using the input selector.
The four RCA line level inputs on the ACRH-4 (AUX 1 –
AUX 4) are unbalanced and identical, thus you may
connect any line level source indistinctly.
In case you need to connect a turntable without built-in
phono stage, use the RCA terminal designated as "AUX
5 - Phono".
Connect the turntable's ground wire to the ground
connector at the back of the amplifier.
The equipment has gold plated copper RCA terminals to
prevent corrosion and improve conductivity, so you
should avoid forcing them.
The speakers' connectors or binding posts may be used
with bare wire, banana plugs, or spade connectors.
We recommend the use of high-quality fully shielded
speaker and interconnect cables to avoid any noise that
may interfere with music reproduction.
Always connect the interconnect cables of the sources
respecting the following order: White for left channel
and Red for right channel, since inverting them prevents
the generation of a realistic soundstage.
In the same way, always connect the speakers
respecting the order of the channels, avoid short-
circuits and, most of all, verify there are no open circuits.
Make sure the cables make correct contact with the
terminals on the amplifier.
Before turning the amplifier on, check that the volume is
at its lowest possible level. This will prevent any
accidental damage to the speakers. Whenever possible,
turn on the sources first and then the amplifier.
Turn on the equipment by pressing the ON / OFF switch.
The equipment is in operating mode when the LED
indicators that show the selected input source and those
located below the preamp tubes are lit (these LED
indicators also show the state of the tubes. When a tube
is not working correctly, the LED indicator will turn off,
indicating the tube must be replaced.)
In case of a power supply interruption, allow the tubes'
filaments to warm up for a few seconds before turning
on the equipment. This will allow the formation of an
electron cloud inside the tubes, thus extending their
useful life.
Select the input source by pressing the selector on the
front panel or by using the remote control. This will turn
on the blue light on the front panel, indicating the
selected source.
All the functions of the ACRH-4 amplifier may be
operated using the supplied remote-control.
The second preamplifier output (PRE OUT 2) may be
used to connect an active subwoofer or a second
amplifier.
In case you need to connect a recording device or to
integrate your stereo audio system to a surrounding
sound system, use the Direct Output, which is not
controlled by the ACRH-4 volume.
