3 Applications and Accessories
GB
The compact and handy active speaker system
PAK-8TXS is ideally suited for PA and DJ applications
like live performances of small bands, dancing events,
presentations, etc. It is equipped with a 20 cm bass-
midrange speaker and a dynamic horn tweeter and
performs 100 W
RMS
It is possible to connect either a microphone or a
unit with line output level (e. g. mixer) to the balanced
input. A feed-through output allows connection of ano-
ther active speaker system.
The integrated receiving part offers the advantage
of being able to use a wireless microphone (transmit-
ting frequency 863.05 MHz) as well. From the product
range of "img Stage Line" the following models are
available:
Type
Hand-held microphone
with integrated transmitter
Pocket transmitter for a headband
microphone e. g. HSE-110

3.1 Approval
According to the R + TTE directive (Radio and Tele-
communication Technical Equipment) the approval of
the unit is valid in the countries of the European Union.
The approval number is indicated in the specifications.
For the operation in countries outside the EU, please
contact your retailer or the MONACOR subsidiary in
the country where this system will be operated.
In the Federal Republic of Germany, the frequency
of 863.05 MHz has been approved for the operation of
wireless audio transmission systems. As it is possible
that this frequency is not available for this field of appli-
cation in other countries of the EU, please contact your
retailer or the corresponding authorities of the particu-
lar country prior to operating this system
outside Germany.
4 Setting-up and Connection
1) The speaker system can freely be placed on the
floor: either put it edgewise on its three feet or in a
flat way on its four feet so that the sound will be
radiated diagonally upwards. Via the stand sleeve
on the lower side of the unit it is also possible to
place the speaker system on a PA cabinet stand
(e. g. a stand of the PAST series from the "img
Stage Line" product range).
2) As a signal source it is possible to connect a micro-
phone or an audio unit with line output level (e. g.
mixer, CD player, MD or cassette recorder, etc.).
Connect the signal source via an XLR plug or
a 6.3 mm plug to the balanced input jack BAL.

Note: When connecting a stereo unit to this jack,
insert a stereo mono adapter (e. g. SMC-1 from
MONACOR), otherwise the signals of the stereo
centre will delete each other mutually due to the
balanced input circuit.
3) The fed-through input signal is available at the bal-
anced XLR output LINK (2). To this output the input
of another active speaker system can be connected.
4) Finally connect the supplied mains cable to the
mains jack (6) and to a mains socket (230 V~/50 Hz).
5 Operation
CAUTION Never adjust a very high volume. Perma-
nent high volumes may damage your
hearing! The human ear gets accustomed
to high volumes which do not seem to be
that high any more after some time.
Therefore, do not further increase a high
volume which has once been adjusted
after getting used to it.
1) With the button INPUT SELECT (3) adapt the input
sensitivity to the connected signal source: disen-
gage the button in case of connected audio unit
with line level; with connected microphone the but-
ton must be pressed.
2) Switch on the connected signal source.
3) Switch on the active speaker system with the mains
switch POWER (13). After switching-on, the upper
LED ON/PROT. (1) shows red for some seconds
(protective circuit activated, unit muted) and then
changes to green (normal operation).
4) If a wireless microphone is used, switch it on. The
red LED WIRELESS (8) lights up. If not, check the
battery of the microphone or reduce the distance
between unit and microphone. The range is approx.
30 m.
5) Adjust the volume with the control VOLUME (9).
From a certain volume, the lower LED NORMAL (1)
lights up to the rhythm of the music.
If the level is too high, the central LED LIMITER
(1) lights up to show that the integrated limiter cir-
cuit is active. The limiter circuit serves to limit the
signal level: If the level exceeds a defined maxi-
mum value, it is adjusted downward to this value by
the limiter circuit. If the LIMITER LED should light
permanently, turn back the volume control corre-
spondingly.
Note: With simultaneous operation of a wireless
microphone and an audio unit [connected to the
jack BAL. INPUT (4)] the volume ratio microphone/
audio unit must directly be adjusted on the audio
unit. With the VOLUME control (9) only the total
volume can be adjusted.
6) To switch on the equalizer (10), press the button
EQ (11); with the equalizer switched on, the LED
next to the button lights up. By disengaging the but-
