When adding gas to the generator, make sure the unit is sitting
on a flat, level surface. If the engine is hot, let the generator
cool for five minutes before adding gas. ALWAYS fill the fuel
tank outdoors with the machine turned off.
Turn the fuel valve to the OFF position.
Remove the fuel cap slowly.
Fill the fuel tank to 1 in. below the top of the fuel neck.
Replace and secure the fuel cap.
WARNING:
Always shut off engine before fueling. Never remove
fuel cap or add fuel to a machine with a running or hot
engine. Make sure the unit is sitting on a flat, level surface
and only add fuel outdoors. If the engine is hot, let the
unit cool for at least five minutes before adding fuel.
After fueling, immediately replace fuel cap and tighten
securely. Move at least 30 ft. from refueling site before
starting engine. Do not smoke and stay away from open
flames and sparks! Failure to follow these instructions
could result in a fire and cause serious personal injury.
NOTE: Always use unleaded gasoline with a pump octane
rating of 86 or higher. Never use old, stale, or contaminated
gasoline, and do not use a lubricant/gas mixture. Do not
allow dirt or water into the fuel tank. Do not use E85 fuel.
ELECTRIC START
This generator model is provided with both electric start and
recoil start capabilities. Avoid prolonged cranking, as it can
damage the engine.
The battery provided is a nominal 12 volt sealed rechargeable
lead-acid battery and can be operated in any position without
leakage. It complies with non-spillable battery regulations.
Its convenient size offers a 30% reduction over conventional
batteries.
NOTE: Brand new generators are shipped with the battery
connections disconnected. The positive and negative
terminals must be connected to the battery before the Electric
Start and MAXCONTROL
For initial battery connection, see Connecting/Disconnecting
Battery.
NOTE: The MAXCONTROL
electric start function to work. If the display is off, verify the
on/off switch is in the ON (I) position, then press and release
the pairing button or toggle the on/off switch off and on to
wake the display from sleep mode.

LCD display features will work.
™
display must be on for the
™
MAXCONTROL
See Figure 11.
NOTE: The LCD display will not work unless the battery is
connected and the on/off switch is in the ON (I) position.
Before the engine is started, the MAXCONTROL
play shows the generator's current fuel level, battery status,
total run hours, and Bluetooth
engine is started, the display changes to show the current
fuel status, load level, run time remaining, Bluetooth
nection status, and the shut down timer, when applicable.
See below for more details about these indicators.
NOTE: The LCD display is equipped with a power-saving
sleep mode that is activated when the engine is not started
within 10 minutes of turning the on/off switch ON (I). To wake
the display, press and release the pairing button or toggle
the on/off switch off and on.
The following information is available on the MAXCONTROL
LCD display
Fuel level: The fuel level indicator shows how much fuel is
remaining.
Battery status: The battery status indicator shows whether
the battery is sufficiently charged to start the generator.
Total run hours: The total run hours indicator shows how
many hours the generator engine has been run over the life
of the unit.
Load level: The load level indicator will show the connected
load. If the generator is approaching the maximum wattage/
amperage capacity, the indicator will blink. If load level capac-
ity is exceeded at any of the receptacles, the LCD display
will show OVERLOADED. To reset, remove all loads from the
generator and reset the tripped circuit breaker. Add loads back
to the generator one at a time being careful not to exceed the
generators wattage rating.
NOTE: The LCD display will show OVERLOADED even if only
one receptacle is overloaded and the other receptacles are
still functional.
NOTE: OVERLOADED appears on the display only when
the amperage or wattage capacity is exceeded at any of the
receptacles. A tripped GFCI will not cause any change to the
LCD display.
Run time: The LCD display will show the approximate
remaining run time based on fuel level and load.
Bluetooth
: Once paired, the LCD display will indicate

whether or not the MAXCONTROL
through Bluetooth
Shut down timer: The shut down timer appears only when
a shut down time has been set using the MAXCONTROL
app. The timer icon will begin to flash when the timer reaches
10 minutes or less.
