GENERAL
RECOMMENDATIONS
Alwaysobservesafetyruleswhenperforming
anytype of maintenance.
Thewarrantyon this lawnmowerdoesnot coveritemsthat have
been subjectedto operatorabuseor negligence. T o receivefull
valuefromwarranty,operatormustmaintainthe lawnmoweras
instructed h ere.
AIiadjustmentsshouldbe checkedat leastonceeach season.
Periodically checkall fastenersand make suretheseare tight.
LUBRICATION
Alwaysstop the motorand removekeybeforecleaning,lubricating
or performing any repairsor maintenanceon the lawnmower.
Always wearsafety glassesduringoperation or whileperforming any
adjustments o r repairs.
DECK CARE
The undersideof mowerdeck shouldbe cleanedafter eachuseas
grass clippings,leaves,dirt and otherdebriswill accumulate. T his
accumulation of grassclippings,etc., is undesirableas it will promote
rustand corrosion.

Removeany buildupof grass and leaveson or aroundthe motor
cover (do not usewater).Wipe the mowercleanwith a dry cloth
occasionally.
Toreducethe risk of electricshock,do not exposethe mowerto
water.

If debrisis allowedto buildup on the undersideof the unit, tilt the
mowerand scrape it cleanwith a suitabletool(makecertain the
keyis removed).
REPLACING
TRAILING
SHIELD

Lubricatethe wheelsat least oncea seasonwith lightoil (or motor
oil). If wheelsare removedfor any reason,lubricatesurfaceof the
pivotarm and inner surfaceof the wheelwith lightoil.

Lubricatethe torsionspringand pivot pointon the rear discharge
door and sidemulch plug periodically with lightoil to preventrust.

Neveroperatemowerunlessthe trailingshieldis in placeand
working.Neveroperatemowerwith damagedsafetydevices.Failure
to do so, can result in personalinjury.
The trailingshieldis subjectto wearand damagewhichcouldexpose
movingparts or allowobjectsto be thrown.For safetyprotection,
frequentlycheckthe trailingshieldand replaceimmediately with
originalequipmentmanufacturer's (OEM)partonly, listed in this
manual.

To removetrailingshield,lift rear door,and bend (bow)the trailing
shieldinwardon eachside to releasetabs from the holesin the
mowerframe.See Figure11.
