Focus mode – on Trio6
FOCUS mode is used to switch from 3-way mode to 1-way in FOCUS 1, and to 2-way mode in FOCUS 2.
Trio6 offers a frequency response of 100Hz to 15kHz (in FOCUS 1 mode) and 80Hz to 40kHz (in FOCUS 2 mode), making it
possible to check the transfer quality of mixes on systems with a limited bass frequency response like televisions, computers,
cars, phones or any other multimedia system.
Focus mode also makes it possible to check the mid-range and mid-bass registers, which are always very critical to equalise
and balance in terms of volume compared to the other information contained in the audio signal. It provides a listening
experience that is as close as possible to the sound signature of the 3-way mode. In a Trio6 in FOCUS 1 mode, this way of
listening to a full-range speaker driver also permits another approach to the stereo image whilst retaining the same sweetspot.
INPUT
Input for connecting the footswitch-type control pedal to a switch, or for receiving the signal transmitted by the OUTPUT of
the FOCUS mode of a Solo6, Twin6, Trio6 loudspeaker, or of the Sub12.
OUTPUT
Output for connecting the Solo6, Twin6 or Trio6 loudspeaker to a second Solo6, Twin6 or Trio6 loudspeaker or the Sub12.
For the Solo6 and Twin6, ensure that you use an instrument cable equipped with 2 x 1/4" (6.35mm) jack connectors (or Stereo,
depending on the pedal) to connect the control pedal to a Solo6 or Twin6, as well as to connect two loudspeakers together.
Focal mode switch – only on Trio6
This switch enables users to select which of the two focus modes they want to use.
Choosing position '1' will activate the FOCUS 1 mode (one-way) when the control pedal is pressed. When the FOCUS 1 mode
is activated, the 'FOCUS' LED on the front panel of the loudspeaker lights up green.
Similarly, choosing the '2' position will activate the FOCUS 2 mode (two-way) when the control pedal is pressed. When the
FOCUS 2 mode is activated, the 'FOCUS' LED on the front panel of the loudspeaker lights up orange.
The '1+2' enables users to select the FOCUS mode (1 or 2) they want to listen to, as well as activate the chosen FOCUS mode.
For this feature, you need to connect the Trio6 loudspeaker to a BOSS® FS-6 double control pedal (model tested and approved
by our engineers). Ensure you use a 1/4" (6.35mm) TRS jack (stereo jack) cable to transmit the signal between loudspeakers.
You can also use 2 single pedals, each with a single switch, and both connected to the first loudspeaker in the chain. In this
case, you will need to use an 'insert cable' with one 1/4" (6.35mm) TRS jack (stereo jack) connector on one side (loudspeaker
side) and two 1/4" (6.35mm) mono jack connectors on the other side (i.e. a connector for each control pedal).
Whatever you choose, one of the switches allows you to change the type of FOCUS mode (1 or 2) while the other allows you
to switch to the chosen FOCUS mode.
Note: if you have Trio6 Be in your system and you want to listen to the Trio6 ST6 monitors in '1+2' mode at the same time, it
is essential that the Trio6 Be monitors are connected to the end of the chain of 1/4" (6.35mm) stereo jack cables used for the
FOCUS mode.
Controls specific to the Sub12 (fig. F)
Level
The Sub12 level adjustment is used to set the subwoofer's volume according to that of the monitors. This setting also offers
the option to optimise the choice of the subwoofer's positioning, taking into account the acoustic consequences inherent in
positioning the Sub12 (in a corner: +6dB, therefore necessity to attenuate the level to achieve perfect linearity of the frequency
response curve for the whole system).
High pass
This zone is dedicated to controlling the "high-pass" crossover of the loudspeakers linked with the Sub12 when in 2.1 configuration.
The 45Hz / 60Hz / 90Hz switch is used to select a cut-off frequency, so as to optimise the coupling of the latter with the
Sub12 subwoofer.
