INSTRUCTIONS
Before using it for the first time, clean the grill plate and the pans with a wet cloth.
When it is first switched on, the raclette-grill may smell and emit some smoke. This is
normal and not harmful, we therefore recommend that you heat up the raclette-grill
for about 10 minutes without any food (ventilate the room during this period).
Always pre-heat your appliance during more or less 10 minutes before using it.
To switch on your appliance, after having read and observed all important
safeguards, put the plug in an earthed power outlet and press the ON/OFF switch.
Hint: When your appliance is warming up and the raclette pans are clean, you can put
them on the appliance to warm them up but never leave raclette pans that have
already been used in the appliance, as the food residues might burn.
GRILL
Put the raclette-grill in the middle of the table.
Cut the meat into small pieces. You thus reduce the cooking time. Chop the crude
meat and serve it on a plate or a wooden board. This way you can then choose the
quantity of meat you wish and grill it on the grill plate.
You can grill toasts, bake pancakes, fry eggs or potatoes and many other things.
You may serve the grilled meat with different sauces, salad or French baguette.
RACLETTE
Raclette is a typical Swiss dish. You can obtain a good raclette by using the original
raclette cheese. Take about 150-250 grams for each person. Cut the cheese into
slices (more or less 2 mm thick).
Prepare potatoes in their skin, which you will put into a covered bowl.
Put the raclette-grill in the middle of the table.
Put the cheese into the raclette pans and place them under the heating tube. The
cheese will melt after 3 to 4 minutes.
As soon as the cheese has melted and taken a brownish-golden color, you can
serve it as it is on the plates or spread it out on the potatoes in their skin. Add some
freshly ground black pepper.
Raclette is served with raw ham or "Bündner" meat, little onions and pickles, as well
as a dry wine.
CLEANING
Before cleaning, unplug and wait for the appliance to cool down.
Wipe the inside and the edges of the appliance with a paper towel or a soft cloth.
Wipe the outside only with a slightly moistened cloth ensuring that no moisture, oil or
grease enters the cooling slots.
Do not clean the inside or outside with any abrasive scouring pad or steel wool as
this will damage the finish.
Do not immerse in water or any other liquid. Only the grill plate and the pans can be
washed in soapy water.
