TROUBLESHOOTING CHART:

PROBLEM
Battery will not
charge
Loss of drive 1
Engine "backfires" 1
when turning
engine "OFF"
Engine dies when 1
tractor is shifted
into reverse
CAUSE
1 Bad battery cell(s).
2 Poor cable connections.
3 Faulty regulator (if so equipped).
4 Faulty alternator.
Freewheel control in "disengaged'
position.
2 Motion drive belt worn, damaged
or broken.
3 Air trapped in transmission
during shipment or servicing.
Engine throttle control not se
between half and full speed (fast'
position before stopping engine
CORRECTION
1 Replace battery.
2 Check/clean att connections.
3 Replace regulator.
4 Replace alternator.
1 Place freewheel control in
"engaged" position.
2 Replace motion drive belt.
3 Purge transmission.
Move throttle control between
hatf and futt speed (fast) position
before stopping engine.
Reverse operation system (ROS) 1 Turn ignition key to ROS"ON"
is not "ON" while mower or other position. See Operation section.
