1.
Proper use
The leveling foot GN 19 / GN 20 is designed for leveling equipment such as machines
and systems, to ensure good support and stability. It can be used in all areas (as per
DIN EN 1672-2:2021 food processing area, spray area, non-food area).
Leveling feet with fastening holes must be attached to the support surface with hygienic
screws.
Any other use is considered unintended use.
2.
Preparation and general information
The leveling feet can be installed on machines and systems set up either indoors our
outdoors.
The leveling feet should be positioned to ensure easy access to the space between the
support surface and the bottom of the machine/system. Sufficient space between these
surfaces must be ensured for cleaning purposes.
Note: Such minimum distances may be specified in standards.
Also ensure that a sufficient distance is maintained to other installed components.
Note: If access to hazardous areas is possible, special precautions must be taken.
The spindle must be installed in an enclosed installation space, such as a pocket hole.
If the end of the spindle must be left open, this (thread) must be covered up according
to good hygiene practices (Fig. 3).
The leveling foot may only be used together with the supplied sealing ring GN 7600.
The metallic mounting surface on the machine or system must be sufficiently smooth to
ensure a proper seal (recommended: Ra ≤ 1 µm).
The leveling foot must be placed on a smooth support surface. There must not be any
gap between the leveling foot and the support surface. If there is a gap, additional
measures are required (e.g. appropriate preparation, sealing).
We would be happy to answer any questions.
Take care not to place the feet on tile joints or floor installations (e.g. grating).
Do not support equipment on horizontal ceiling surfaces (incline ≤ 3°) or orient the
spindle vertically at an angle of less than 3° to the vertical.
Additional instructions to be followed for leveling feet with fastening holes:
If the floor surface is inclined > 5° to the horizontal, leveling feet with fastening holes may
not be used.
First determine the position of the leveling foot on the floor and insert an anchor into the
floor for the leveling foot. Observe the corresponding angle values (Fig. 1).
Hygienically sealing fastening elements must be used to fasten the feet to the floor,
such as stainless steel screws GN 1580 (Fig. 1). These must absolutely be made of a
suitable material to prevent corrosion (e.g. contact corrosion). We recommend using
non-corroding stainless steel. Ensure that the seal has proper contact and completely
covers the hole in the leveling foot. The thread must not be visible after the leveling foot
has been mounted. Washers or spacer sleeves may not be used.
