Performance of Measurements
6.1.3 Manual Temperature Compensation
The manual temperature compensation is per-
formed by manual temperature entry. Here it is im-
portant to know the exact temperature of the con-
ductor or cable to be measured, in order to respect
the specified accuracy values.
" Switch on UNITEST Cable Length Meter via the
key.
" Connect the red test leads to red sockets and the
black test leads to black sockets.
" Briefly press

perature value is displayed.
" Set the ambient temperature of the cable or con-
ductor to be measured using the ''
or the ''
'' key. The temperature setting is
carried out in steps of 1°C and in steps of 1°F
for the ft (feet) measurement range.

temperature set is saved. The message ''Tcal''
is displayed.
" The UNITEST Cable Length Meter is calibrated
and the measurements can be performed, as de-
scribed in section 6.2.
To meet the specified accuracy values it is im-
portant that the set temperature corresponds
to the temperature of the cable or the conduc-
tor to be measured.

6.2 Performance of Cable Length Measurements
" Switch on the UNITEST Cable Length Meter
using the
key.
" Perform the temperature compensation of the
UNITEST Cable Length meter as described in
section 6.1.
" Connect the red test leads to red sockets and the
black test leads to black sockets.
" Connect both conductor ends using the alliga-
tor clamps.
" Set the material (copper / aluminium) of the
cable or conductor to be measured. The mes-
sage ''Cu'' or ''Al'' is displayed.
" To set the desired measurement unit (m/ft),
press the

displayed.
" Set the measurement range selection dial in ac-
cordance with the conductor cross sections in-
dicated in table I or II. The cable and conductor
cross sections are briefly displayed in TAB I.
Use the
key to switch to the measurement
ranges of table II. ''TAB II'' is displayed.
If the message ''- - -'' is displayed, the UNITEST
Cable Length Meter is ready to perform measure-
ments.
" Start the measurement by pressing the ?? key.
A simple acoustic signal is audible and the mea-
surement value of the conductor length in the pre-
selected unit (m / ft) is displayed.
