For safety reasons, always use the Type 1 guard when
performing cutting operations (Wheel types 1 thinner
than 5mm, 41, and 42). Either guard must be used for
diamond blade wheels.
Figure 3: Installing the Safety Guard
Figure 4: Securing the Safety Guard
1. To attach the safety guard, rotate the guard so that it
is 180° from the neutral position and slide it into the
track on the front of the tool.
2. Press the safety guard adjustment lever and rotate
the guard so that the closed section is facing the
operator. This gives the operator the most protection.
3. Release the lever and rotate the guard to the closest
of the 7 positions until it locks into place.
4. Ensure the guard is properly secured: the lever must
engage and it should not be possible to turn the safety
guard.
5. To change the guard type, reverse the procedure by
pushing the adjustment lever and rotating the guard
to the position opposite from the tool.
6. The guard will slide out of the track to allow the other
guard to be attached.

Dust Filter
1. If working in a dusty or dirty environment, always
keep the dust filter on the tool.
— To attach the dust filter, slide it onto the body of
the tool just in front of the vents, then slide it
toward the battery to latch the tabs into the
proper vents detents.
— To remove the filter, pull the edges of the vent
outward and work the vent forward and upward
until it can be freely removed from the tool. The
machine will heat up faster when the dust filter is
fitted to the tool.
2. To avoid overheating the tool, keep the dust filter
clean.
— Clean the dust filter by removing and blowing it
with compressed air from the inside of the
screens once a week, or as needed,
remembering to always use the proper eye and
respiratory protection.
Spanner Wrench
The spanner wrench is supplied to tighten and remove
the clamping nut while changing accessories.
Do not use spanner wrenches not specifically
designed for this tool or attempt to use snap ring
pliers to tighten the clamping nut. Insufficient
clamping force could cause the accessory to come off
the spindle which may result in injury.
Rotating Battery Pack
The rear-most portion of the tool, which holds the
battery, can be rotated 270° to provide the user the
most convenient position based on proper use,
access and safety in a variety of working conditions.
This portion will resist rotation in general use as there
is no safety or lock to stop the rotation of the battery
pack. Only operate the machine while it is in one of the
four fully-engaged positions.
