4. How the bosotherm xpress measures forehead temperature
The bosotherm xpress measures infrared energy radiated from the
artery under the skin of the forehead and the surrounding tissue.
This energy is collected through the lens and converted to a tem-
perature value. The most accurate result is obtained when
measuring the temperature directly at the centre of the
forehead.
5. How to use the bosotherm xpress
IMPORTANT: Before taking the first measurement, please
1. Press the O/I button. The LCD is activated and
shows all segments for 2 seconds.
2. The last measurement reading will be shown
on the display automatically for 3 seconds
together with the «M» icon.
3. When the °C or °F icon is flashing, a beep
sound is heard and the thermometer is ready
for the measurement.
4. Place the probe at the centre of the forehead.
Make sure that the tip of the probe is completely in contact with
the skin of the forehead.
5. Press the «START» button briefly. A beep sound confirms the end
of the measurement.
6. Remove the thermometer from the forehead. The LCD displays
the measured temperature.
NOTE: 10 short beeps and the flashing of the measured temper-
ature alert the patient that the temperature is higher than 37.5 °C
(99.5 °F) and she/he may have fever.
7. Please wait until the °C- or °F symbol flashes before measuring
again. If so, continue like explained from 4. on.
8. The thermometer switches off automatically about 1 minute af-
ter the last measurement.
