5.1 IMPORTANT NOTES FOR THE VALUATION OF THE
MEASUREMENTS
Since body temperature varies from person to person, its useful to
know the individual range of the own body temperature.
To get to know this individual range, as well as to get to know how
the infrared thermometer works, we recommend to do some test
measurements. These test measurements should be done when
you are in a healthy, fever free condition.
The standard range of the body temperature for oral and fo-
rehead measurements is 35,7 – 37,2 °C, for rectal measure-
ments it is 36,1 – 37,6 °C.
• Always take the temperature in the same spot, since the tem-
perature readings may vary at different spots.
• The thermometer as well as the patient should stay in the
same ambient temperature for at least 10 minutes before the
measurement takes place.
• Readings could be too high, if hair covers the measuring spot.
• After sleeping please wait for approximately 5 minutes before
taking the forehead temperature.
• Please do not use the thermometer in places with high humidi-
ty.
• Before measuring the temperature, please remove sweat or
make up from the forehead.
• It is possible that the forehead temperature differs from the
body temperature (which for example was measured rectally)
due to a contraction of the blood vessels, which can occur in
every fever stage. In this case, the skin feels cold and the tem-
perature measured with the infrared forehead thermometer
could be noticeably low.
• Skin temperature of babies reacts quickly to the ambient tem-
perature. Please do not measure the temperature while or
immediately after changing the nappy; the measured tempera-
ture could be too low.
IN CASE OF DOUBT A COMPARATIVE MEASUREMENT IS
RECOMMENDED.
