the appropriate storage area.
3.2 Grinding tool
The rotation speed on the grinding tool must be
the same as or higher than the speed set on the
control unit. Only use grinding tools from the SUH-
NER catalog. Handle grinding tools with care and store
them appropriately. Do not use damaged grinding tools.

4.1 Preventive maintenance
4.1.1 Maintenance of the control unit
the control unit does not require maintenance. Should
only be cleaned with a dry, soft cloth.
4.1.2 Changing the fuse
Press the spring clips together and remove the fuse car-
tridge. A spare fuse is located in the mains connection.
T2L fuses must be used for mains supplies oper-
ating at 230V and T4L fuses must be used for
mains supplies operating at 140V.
4.2 Spare parts
See page 2-3.
4.3 Troubleshooting
• If the control unit does not function once the power
switch has been switched on, then the first course of ac-
tion is to check the fuse.
• The control unit is fitted with an overload protection
switch. If this switch has been tripped within the control
unit, then this has usually been caused by the following
events: The hand tool or micro motor has been continu-
ously operating at maximum overload. If this happens,
pause operation and wait. After 3-5 seconds, operation
can be restarted.
• Display does not light up: Device is not connected/
fuse has burned out/power switch is not working. Pull out
mains cable/change fuse/send device back to SUHNER's
Customer Service Center.

• E1 Excess Current: Overheating/tangled cable. Cool
down/untangle cable.
• E2 Commutation Error: Motor position not found on
start/collet chuck is open/break in cable. Restart/close
collet chuck/replace cable.
• E3 Excess Current in BLDC Motor: Hand tool is stiff, too
much pressure during operation. Check hand tool, restart
motor, reduce working pressure.
• E4 Carbon brush motor, max. speed attained. False pa-
rameter. Adjust parameter/send device back to SUHNER's
Customer Service Center.
• E5 Intermediate Circuit Voltage Error. Control circuit has
been overloaded Excess current limit (see E4). See E4.
• E6 Excess Current Has Been Measured: Hand tool is
stiff, too much pressure during operation. Check hand
tool, restart motor/motor is not functioning correctly, send
it back to SUHNER's Customer Service Center.
• E7 Excess Current Warning for BLDC Motors: Hand tool
is stiff, too much pressure in operation. Reduce working
pressure.
• E8 Internal malfunction: Error notification: Control is not
functioning. Restart/if necessary, send back to SUHNER's
Customer Service Center.
• Rotation speed cannot be increased and the control
unit is not working: Set maximum rotation speed for the
SFR foot pedal using the rotation speed regulator on the
control unit.
• Collet chuck does not turn in the hand tool or hand tool
is not working: Bearing is blocked or not functioning/collet
chuck is open. Send back to SUHNER's Customer Service
Center/close collet chuck.
4.4 Repair
If, despite thorough manufacturing and testing proce-
dures, the control unit fails, then the repairs must be
carried out at an authorized SUHNER Customer Service
Center.
If the connecting cable needs to be replaced then this is
to be carried out by the manufacturer or their representa-
tives to eliminate safety risks.
4.5 Warranty
The warranty becomes void in the event of damages/sub-
sequent damages due to improper handling, improper
use, non-compliance with the service and maintenance
requirements and use by unauthorized persons.
Claims shall only be recognized if the control unit is re-
turned in a complete, non-dismantled state.
