Directions for Use
To use the device with a vacuum or air system, attach
the appropriate Luer adapters to the vacuum or air
system tubing . If the device becomes momentarily
inoperable due to aqueous fluid completely filling the
housing, clear the filter by disconnecting it from the
upstream Luer connection and aseptically applying air
pressure with a syringe .
To use the device as a syringe filter, follow the
directions below . When filtering aqueous solutions,
filter 10 mL of ethanol or methanol through the unit to
wet the hydrophobic filter . Discard the first 2–3 mL of
filtered solution to prevent alcohol contamination .
1 . Wearing gloves using aseptic
technique: fill syringe with solution to
be filtered .
2 . Remove cover from package.
3 . Attach suitable syringe to filter inlet
and remove assembly from package .
4 . Hold syringe with filter pointing up and
top off by pushing a few drops through
to wet filter .
Excess solution may be hazardous and
Y
should be disposed with care .
5 . Depress syringe plunger to filter
solution into suitable container or
compatible attachment on outlet .
