Note: If the blades cannot be pulled out from the cyl-
inder after the screws are loosened, you can release
them from the holder by tapping on them using hard
wood. Then move the blades by a screwdriver and pull
them out. If necessary, hit the wooden piece by a small
hammer to release the blades. Remove the chips and
wooden particles from the area determined for blades.
Insert new blades into the groove on the cylinder. Us-
ing a wrench (or a screwdriver) press the blades into
the cylinder until they lock into place. Using a wrench,
fasten three partially loosened screws. Repeat the pro-
cess also for the other blade.
When exchanging blades by a rule, check if both
blades are levelled. If not, you may adjust their posi-
tion by an Allen key. To adjust the blade, loosen three
screws on the blade holder first. Then, turn the Allen
key clockwise to extract the blade, and turn the Al-
len key counterclockwise to retract the blade. Finally,
tighten all screws.
When mounting the blades to the plane, always tighten
the blade screws properly. Loose screws may be very
dangerous. Always check the blades and their proper
tightening.
Proper Adjustment of Plane Blades (E)
! If you fail to properly and firmly adjust the plane
blades, the surface being planed will be rough and not
flat. The blades must be mounted with a levelled cut-
ting edge, i.e. parallel with the rear base surface. Ex-
amples of correct and incorrect adjustment are shown
below (E).
(A) front base (movable foot)
(B) rear base (fixed foot)
Proper adjustment (E1)
Blade front ends are absolutely parallel with the rear
base surface.
Surface notches (E2)
Cause: The front end of one or both blades is not par-
allel with the rear base.
Chamfering at start (E3)
Cause: The front end of one or both blades does not
sufficiently protrude with respect to the rear base.
Chamfering at finish (E4)
Cause: The front end of one or both blades exces-
sively protrudes with respect to the rear base.
Cutting Depth Adjustment (F)
The planing depth may be adjusted from 0 mm to 2
mm. To adjust the depth, turn the adjusting equipment
into the requested position until it levels with the arrow
on the cover. Turn it clockwise to increase or counter-
clockwise to decrease the cutting depth. Always start
with rough cutting and continue to a smooth cut.
Approximate adjustment for rough planing is from 0.8
mm to 2.0 mm.
For finishing smooth planing, adjust the plane approxi-
mately from 0 mm to 0.8 mm.
After each adjustment change, we recommend to test
planing on a piece of waste wood and make sure that
an expected amount of wood will be removed.
Note: During storage, transport, etc. set the plane
depth to 0 mm.
