INSTALLATION
The Fluval Sea Protein Skimmer is designed to be positioned inside
an aquarium or sump filter by using the suction cups (A) or the mounting bracket (B).
In Aquarium
Choose where to position the skimmer inside your aquarium. Remember to clean
the aquarium surface carefully so the suction cups will adhere to the glass properly.
When using the mounting bracket, the suction cups can be removed from the
suction cup pins.
• Position the skimmer so that the water level is in between the
minimum/maximum water levels to guarantee adequate surface aspiration (C).
• Position the Collection Cup by adjusting the O-ring.
• Connect the skimmer to the electrical supply.
In Sump
If the sump does not not offer a min. 25.4 cm (10 inch) water level a suitable glass or plastic box may be placed in the sump that does.
The skimmer may be mounted within this box with water supplied by either a dedicated small submersible pump or the incoming
drainage water from the display aquarium. The box can then be allowed to naturally overflow into the sump. This type of installation
will also provide a constant water level for the skimmer.*
The following instructions on regulating water level and airflow are only indicative for the start up of the skimmer. It will then be up
to you to adjust the system to better fit your aquarium.
IMPORTANT: The skimmer needs to run at least three to seven days before it starts foaming properly and the setting becomes final.
It is possible to notice some air bubbles entering the aquarium through the drainage. This is normal and these bubbles will disappear
once the skimmer reaches its operating balance.
*Rolf C Hagen Inc. assumes no liability for this type of installation in regards to water leaks, splashing or other unforeseen
mishaps as it is the full responsibility of the purchaser to ensure a safe and secure installation of this nature.
