1. Presentation
The RTM3 and RTM3 DUO are medical devices intended to regulate the flow rate of a gas. They are designed to be
connected to a pressurised wall-mounted gas supply or to the pressure outlet on a pressure regulator.
User profile:
Users are medical staff: doctors, nurses.
2. Versions
The RTM3 and RTM3 DUO are available in the following versions:
-
Gas: Oxygen (O
) - Medical air - Carbon dioxide (CO
2
-
Pressure at device inlet: O
-
Probe: complies with the following standards: NF S 90-116 - BS 5682 - DIN 13260 - DISS - US Ohmeda Diamond -
NORDIC - UNI....
-
Direct connection or via a rail mounting (tube + crimped tube connector + rail clamp).
-
Threaded outlet: 12x125 M - 9/16'' M -1/4G M – 1/2''BS F.
-
Single or double outlet models.
-
Flow ranges available:
 O
: 0-1.5 l /min; 0-5 l/min; 0-15 l /min; 0-30 l/min; 0-70 l/min.
2
 Medical air: 0-5 l/min; 0-15 l /min; 0-30 l/min; 0-70 l/min.
 CO

2
 Carbogen: 0-15 l/min.
3. Technical data
-
Complies with standard EN ISO 15002.
-
Display units: litre per minute (l/min).
-
Measurement precision: ± 10 % of the value indicated or ± 0.5 l/min, whichever is the highest.
-
Maximum off-scale flow rate for ≤30 l/min version: 60 l/min ±10%.
-
Maximum off-scale flow rate for ≥30 l/min version: 90 l/min ±10%.
-
Inlet filters for ≤30 l/min version: mesh size of 35 µm.
-
Inlet filters for ≥30 l/min version: mesh size of 100 µm.
-
Serial number: with year, month of manufacture and individual number.
-
The flowmeters provide (back-)pressure compensation (with the exception of the 0-1.5 l/min flowmeter).
-
Ambient temperature for use: 23°C.
-
RTM3 DUO  3 positions: gas flow through tubing nipple, gas flow through humidifier or OFF position.
-
RTM3 DUO not available in 0-1.5 l/min version.
4. Instructions for use
-
Check that the device is in good condition.
-
Make sure that the regulating knob is closed (zero flow).
-
Connect the device to the wall-mounted gas supply or to the pressure outlet on a pressure regulator, with the device
positioned vertically.
-
For the RTM3: If a humidifier is required, screw one onto the base of the device. Alternatively, screw on a tubing
nipple to provide a connection for gas therapy equipment.
-
For the RTM3 DUO: Screw a humidifier to the base of the device or connect gas therapy equipment directly to the
tubing nipple. Select gas flow through the humidifier or through the tubing nipple by rotating the base of the device.
-
Turn the regulating knob on the front of the device (anti-clockwise to increase the flow) until the required flow rate is
displayed on the scale (the value delivered is indicated by the middle of the ball).
-
For the RTM3 DUO: Caution, if the regulating knob is not closed, gas may escape at a high flow rate as you rotate the
base to select an option other than the OFF position.
-
Run the tubing up to the patient as the final step.
-
When disconnecting: close the regulating knob, remove the tubing from the patient, disconnect the humidifier if one is
fitted, then disconnect the flowmeter from the wall-mounted supply or from the pressure outlet on the pressure
regulator.
