Basic Safety Precautions
for Power Tools
1. SECURITY OF THE WORKPLACE:
a) Keep the workplace clean, organized and well
illuminated. Disorder or poorly lighted workspaces
may cause accidents.
b) Do not work with this equipment in places with
explosion risk or where liquids, gases and flammable
powders can be found. During the use, it is possible
that sparks are generated in the measuring instruments
that can ignite dust or vapors.
c) Keep children and other people away during the
use. In case the operator get distracted, it is possible
that they lose control over the equipment and it injures
someone nearby.
2. ELECTRICAL SAFETY:
a) The electric tool plug must fit fully into the
outlet. Do not modify the plug in any way. Do not use
adapters on electric tools protected by grounding.
Standardized plugs and appropriate outlets reduce the
risk of electric shock.
b) Prevent your body from coming into direct contact
with grounded surfaces, such as tubes, refrigerators
and heaters. There is a high risk of electric shock when
any part of the body is in direct contact with the earth.
c) Keep the device away from rain and moisture.
Water infiltration into the electric tool increases the
risk of electric shock.
d) Do not pull the tool's cable to carry it, hang it or
disconnect it from the outlet. Keep the cable away
from heat, oil, sharp areas or moving parts of the
appliance. Damaged cables increase the risk of electric
shock.
e) When working with the electric tool outdoors,
use appropriate extension cables. Using these cables
reduces the risk of electric shock.

f) When using electric tools in wet environments, use
a circuit breaker on the electrical circuit. The use of
circuit breakers prevents electric shock when the cable
is subject to overcurrent.
3. PERSONAL SECURITY:
a) Be aware, observe what you are doing and
be caution when working with laser measuring
instruments. Do not use these instruments when you
are tired, under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or
medication. A small moment of carelessness can lead
to serious injuries.
b) When using laser measuring instruments, make use
of personal protective equipment (PPE). Proper use of
personal protective equipment, such as protective masks
against dust and soot, non-slip safety shoes, safety
helmet, ear protector and goggles, according to the type
and application of the tool, reduces the risk of accidents.
c) Avoid involuntary automatic switch-on of the
power tools. Make sure the power tool is switched off
before plugging it into the power supply, lifting it or
carrying it. Carrying the power tool with your finger on
the on/off switch or plugging it in when the switch is on
may cause accidents.
d) Remove adjustment or tightening wrenches
before turning on the electric tool. Keys attached to
moving parts that rotate can result in serious accidents.
e) Do not work in awkward positions. Always keep
your balance and a firm grip while using the tool. This
gives you better control in the event of unexpected
situations.
f) Wear appropriate clothing. Do not wear loose
clothing, jewelry or watches. Keep hair, clothing and
gloves away from moving parts of the tool. Loose
clothing, long hair, jewelry and watches can get stuck in
the moving parts of the electric tool.
g) If the tools have special accessories for vacuuming
or collecting dust, ensure that these are properly
attached. Using dust collection equipment reduces the
risk of dust inhalation.
