Your Blower is double insulated to give you added safety. In a double insulated appliance, two systems of insulation are
provided instead of grounding. No grounding means is provided on a double insulated appliance, nor should a means for
grounding be added to the appliance. Servicing a double insulated appliance requires extreme care and knowledge of the
system and should be done only by qualified service personnel. Replacement parts for a double insulated appliance must
be identical to the parts they replace. A double insulated appliance is marked with the words double insulated or "double
insulation". The symbol (square within a square) may also be marked on the appliance.
SAFETY RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS: EXTENSION CORDS
Double insulated tools have 2-wire cords and can be used with 2-wire or 3-wire extension cords. Only round jacketed
extension cords should be used, and we recommend that they be listed by Underwriters Laboratories (U.L.) (C.S.A. in
Canada). If the extension will be used outside, the cord must be suitable for outdoor use. Any cord marked as outdoor can
also be used for indoor work.
An extension cord must have adequate wire size (AWG or American Wire Gage) for safety, and to prevent loss of power
and overheating. The smaller the gage number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cable, that is 16 gage has more
capacity than 18 gage. When using more than one extension to make up the total length, be sure each individual extension
contains at least the minimum wire size.
To determine the minimum wire size required, refer to the chart below. Before using an extension cord, inspect it for loose
or exposed wires, damaged insulation, and defective fittings. Make any needed repairs or replace the cord if necessary.
Printed in Mexico
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this equipment has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This equipment
must be used with a suitable polarized 2 wire or 3 wire extension cord. Polarized connections will fit together only one
way. Make sure that the receptacle end of the extension cord has large and small blade slot widths. If the plug does not fit
fully into the extension cord, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, obtain a suitable extension cord. If the extension cord
does not fit fully into the outlet, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the tool plug or
extension cord in any way.
NOTE: Ensure the blower is switched off before attaching extension cord.
• SECURING POWER SUPPLY CORD
Secure the extension cord in the built-in cord retainer as shown in Figure 1A. Fold the extension cord into a loop
approximately 12 inches (30 cm) from the receptacle end of the extension cord. Push the folded loop of the extension cord
up through the loop opening at the rear of the blower (see Figure 1A). Place the loop of the extension cord around the
hook at the rear of the blower and gently pull on the extension cord until it is snug around the hook. Now plug the end of
the extension cord into the plug blades at the end of the tool cord (see instructions above for use of polarized plug). Ensure
that the cord end is fully seated onto the plug blades.
The switch can be operated by moving the lever from side to side. The "ON" and "OFF" positions are marked on the
housing as shown in Figure 1B.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:
NOTE: Ensure the blower is switched off and is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or removing the
blower tubes, or attaching or adjusting the shoulder strap. Ensure the blower is switched off before putting the strap
onto or off of your shoulder.
• TUBE ASSEMBLY (STRAIGHT TUBES)
Assemble the two straight tubes (see Figure 2) by sliding the two together until the lock button engages (see Figure 3). To
separate the two tubes push the lock button and pull the tubes apart. To attach the straight tubes to the blower, line up the
tubes with the blower housing as shown in Figure 4. Push the tubes into the blower housing and twist clockwise to lock. To
remove, twist counter-clockwise and pull.
• TUBE ASSEMBLY (FLEX HOSE)
To attach the flex hose to the blower, first remove the straight tubes, as described above. Now, line up the flex hose with
the blower housing as shown in Figure 5. Push the flex hose connector into the blower housing and twist the connector
clockwise to lock. To attach the straight tubes to the flex hose (see Figure 5) push together and twist clockwise to lock.
To remove the straight tubes from the flex hose, twist counter-clockwise and pull. To remove the flex hose from the blower,
twist the connector counter-clockwise and pull.
• SHOULDER STRAP (FIGURE 6)
To attach the shoulder strap to the blower, thread the strap into blower housing as shown in Figure 6. Push the end of the
strap into the left-hand slot (1) of the buckle feature on the blower housing until it comes out the right-hand slot (2). Now,
push the end of the strap into the middle slot until it comes out the left-hand slot (3), as shown in Figure 6. Pull on the strap
until it is snug around the buckle. Repeat for the other end of the strap into the other buckle feature on the blower housing.
Ensure that both ends of the strap are securely fastened to the blower housing and that the free ends of the strap are at
least 3 inches (75 mm) long. To adjust the length of the shoulder strap, push the strap material into the buckle until it bulges
out on the other side of the buckle. Adjust the strap until it is a comfortable length, then pull on the strap until it is snug
around the buckle. Ensure that the free end of the strap is at least 3 inches (75 mm) long.
• OPERATION WITH FLEX HOSE (FIGURE 7)
Place the shoulder strap over your shoulder and hold the flex hose handle with one hand as shown in Figure 7. Sweep
from side to side with the nozzle several inches above the ground. Slowly advance keeping the accumulated pile of debris
in front of you.
• OPERATION WITH STRAIGHT TUBES ONLY (FIGURE 8)
Hold the blower with one hand as shown in Figure 8 and sweep from side to side with the nozzle several inches above the
ground. Slowly advance keeping the accumulated pile of debris in front of you.
• CLEANING AND STORAGE
TURN OFF AND UNPLUG TOOL! (Unplug extension cord at power source.)
CAUTION:
Use only mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the tool. Never let any liquid get inside the tool; never immerse any part of
the tool into a liquid.
Your blower should be stored in a dry place. Do not store the tool on or adjacent to fertilizers or chemicals. Such storage
can cause rapid corrosion of the metal parts.
