Operating Instructions
Top Equalizer 6S 300mA
12. Current drain
1. During the Equalizing phase the Top Equali-
zer draws a current of about 15 mA once the
Lithium charger has terminated the charge pro-
cess.
An additional by-pass current of about 70 mA
per output flows, but only for the period when
the LED(s) are lit.
This means in practice that very little capacity is
drawn from the battery during the equalizing
process.
2. Current-saving mode
The unit draws a current of about 0.4 mA.
13. Accessories
A voltage sensor lead must always be used with
this unit, otherwise the device will be unable to
measure the voltage of the individual cells.
Robbe Li-Poly batteries are fitted with this sen-
sor lead as standard. However, the sensor leads
are also available separately, enabling the user
to attach them to existing batteries:
Voltage sensor lead, 3-pole (two cells)
No. 4025
Voltage sensor lead, 4-pole (three cells)
No. 4026
Voltage sensor lead, 5-pole (four cells)
No. 4027
Voltage sensor lead, 6-pole (five cells)
No. 4028
Voltage sensor lead, 7-pole (six cells)
No. 4021
14. "Slave - Master" switching
Two Top Equalizer 6S units can be connected in
series in order to equalize more than six cells
(max. twelve cells).
If the individual cell voltages are to be displayed
on the charger's screen via the Equalizer sen-
sor, the two units must be interconnected using
a Master - Slave link lead.
With this arrangement you must set the first unit
to "Master", the second to "Slave".
See the wiring diagram in the centre of these
instructions.

16. Safety notes
• The Top Equalizer is designed solely for
equalizing (balancing) rechargeable Lithium
and Lithium-Polymer batteries.
• It is essential to protect the unit from dust,
dirt and damp.
• Do not subject the Equalizer to excessive
heat or cold, nor to direct sunlight.
• Avoid shock and pressure loads, and do not
subject the unit to severe vibration.
• Do not place the charger and the batteries
connected to it on any form of flammable
surface. Do not operate the charger in the
vicinity of inflammable materials or gases.
• The charger should never be left operating
unsupervised.
• Ensure that there is an unrestricted airflow to
the unit's cooling slots. Never place it on a
carpet or felt surface.
• If you will not be using the Equalizer for a
protracted period, disconnect it from the
power supply and any batteries connected
to it.
• Do not charge a battery which is already
warm or hot to the touch. Allow packs to
cool down to ambient temperature before
continuing.
• Batteries to be charged as a unit must con-
sist of cells of the same make, the same type
and the same capacity.
• Do not connect two batteries to one output
for charging in parallel. Only connect one
pack to the unit at any one time.
• Take great care to maintain correct battery
polarity; and avoid short-circuits.
• Read the instructions provided by the bat-
tery and charger manufacturers, and adhere
to them strictly.
• At regular intervals check the case and
cables for damage.

Operating Instructions
Top Equalizer 6S 300mA
17. Safety Notes relating to Lithium-Polymer
batteries:
These operating instructions can only provide a
global overview of the methods of charging and
handling rechargeable LiPo batteries, and
should not be considered as a substitute for the
instructions provided by the battery manufactu-
rer.
Please be sure to read the instructions and
information supplied by the battery manu-
facturer.
• Do not submerge the battery in water or any
other liquid.
• Do not heat or incinerate the battery, or
place it in a microwave oven.
• Do not short-circuit the pack, or charge it
with reversed polarity.
• Do not subject the battery to physical pres-
sure; do not deform or throw it.
• Do not solder directly to the battery.
• Do not modify or open the battery.
• Do not charge the battery to a voltage higher
than 4.2 Volts per cell, or discharge it to a
voltage lower than 2.5 Volts per cell.
• LiPo batteries may only be charged using a
charger designed expressly for this purpose.
Never connect the battery directly to a mains
PSU.
• Never charge or discharge the battery in
direct sunshine, or close to a heater or fire.
• Do not use the battery in any location which
is subject to severe static discharges.
• Any of these errors may cause the battery to
be damaged, explode or catch fire.
• Keep the battery well out of the reach of chil-
dren.
If electrolyte should escape, keep it well
away from fire; the substance is highly
inflammable and may burst into flames.
• Avoid the fluid electrolyte contacting your
eyes. If this should occur, rinse the affected
part immediately with plenty of clean water
before seeking medical attention.
• If the fluid electrolyte should contact your
clothes or any other object, immediately
wash it off using plenty of water.
No. 8492
18. Proper disposal of batteries
On no account dispose of exhausted batteries in
the domestic waste. To protect the environment,
take defective and exhausted packs to your local
battery collection point after ensuring that they are
completely discharged. Collection points include
all retail outlets where dry and rechargeable batte-
ries are sold, and also local authority toxic waste
collection centres. Exhausted batteries can be
recycled, and the materials re-introduced into the
production cycle.
Please help to protect the environment.
19. Guarantee
We guarantee this charger for a period of 24
months. Proof for the start and finish of this gua-
rantee period is provided by the receipt from the
model shop, which you obtained when you pur-
chased the unit. Any repairs carried out under gua-
rantee do not extend the original guarantee period.
Be sure to send proof of purchase (till receipt) if you
have to return your Top Equalizer to us.
20. Liability exclusion
This device is designed and approved exclusively
for use with the types of battery stated in these
operating instructions. robbe Modellsport accepts
no liability of any kind if it is used for any other pur-
pose than that stated.
We at robbe Modellsport are unable to ensure that
you follow the instructions supplied with the
device, and we have no control over the methods
you use for operating, using and maintaining it and
the batteries to which it is connected.
For this reason we are obliged to deny all liability
for loss, damage or costs which are incurred due
to the incompetent or incorrect use and operation
of our products, or which are connected with such
operation in any way.
Unless otherwise prescribed by binding law, our
obligation to pay compensation, regardless of the
legal argument employed, is limited to the invoice
value of those robbe products which were imme-
diately and directly involved in the event which
caused the damage.
