Temperature set-point setting
Switching off the thermostat
The thermostat can be switched off using the button.
Switching it off means that the temperature is no longer controlled (AUTO/MAN/AWAY mode), but
an anti-freeze control is still kept active, the threshold of which can be set via a special programming
parameter of the device.
The display remains on (with reduced brightness), indicating only the value of the detected temperature.
Operation
The device can be combined with a temperature control actuator (53ABRTM-FC, 53ABRTM-PV or
ABRTM-PV). It requires a centralised connection to a supervisor in order to use the time programming
provided by the supervisor when set to automatic mode (AUTO).

The device is also equipped with a connector for the connection (optional) of an external NTC probe to
detect the temperature in another point of the room where the thermostat itself is located. In this case,
it is possible to select, via a special user menu, the sensor to be used to measure the temperature
(internal sensor, NTC or average of the two values).
In order to obtain correct and stable temperature and humidity measurements (internal sensor), it is
necessary to wait at least 30 minutes after first switching on the device.
The thermostat operates locally only in ON/OFF mode, with control of the set threshold (set-point)
depending on the season (operating mode) and with a hysteresis algorithm.
In "Winter" mode, when the room temperature falls below the set threshold, the thermostat closes the
relay and sends the activation AVEbus command, which is useful for a possible temperature control
actuator, until the room temperature returns above the set-point (when the deactivation command is
sent).
In "Summer" mode, when the room temperature is higher than the set threshold, the thermostat closes
the relay and sends the activation AVEbus command, which is useful for a possible temperature control
actuator, until the room temperature returns below the set-point (when the deactivation command is
sent).
The activation/deactivation AVEbus command sends both the activation status (ON/OFF) and the speed,
always with the value 0 with the actuator OFF and with a value between 1 and 3 with the actuator ON,
depending on the difference between set-point and detected temperature and the speed delta set on
the device
Operating modes
Manual mode (MAN)
• By turning the rotary encoder knob on the thermostat, clicking on the set-point adjustment
buttons or moving the cursor on the supervisor web page screen, a temperature set-point is set, which
is taken as a reference and kept constant for the heating or cooling regulation until it is set again.
• The word MAN appears fixed on the display and on the web page.
• The C LED on the device turns light blue.
• The set-point values of the temperature profiles sent by the supervisor to the device are ignored.
Automatic mode (AUTO)
• The temperature set-point is determined by the temperature profiles set in the supervisor, based
on the season, the day of the week and the current time. This value is taken as a reference for room
heating or cooling regulation.
• The word AUTO appears fixed on the display and on the supervisor web page.
• The C LED on the device turns yellow.
• By turning the rotary encoder knob on the thermostat, clicking on the set-point adjustment
buttons or moving the cursor on the supervisor web page screen, the device automatically switches to
manual mode and automatically sets the new temperature set-point, which is taken as a reference and
kept constant for the heating or cooling regulation until it is set again. The word MAN appears fixed on
the display and on the web page in white (instead of the word AUTO).
"AWAY" mode
AWAY mode allows you to set a fixed set-point such as to ensure that a constant temperature is
maintained when you are away from home for a long period of time (e.g. if it is a holiday home, you
may want to maintain a minimum temperature of 15.0°C during the winter season when there are no
occupants).
It is possible to set a temperature set-point for AWAY mode for each of the two seasons.
• The temperature set-point is determined by the value saved in the device, based on the current
season. This value is taken as a reference for heating or cooling regulation.
• The word AWAY appears fixed on the display.
• The word MAN appears fixed on the display and on the supervisor web page.
• The C LED on the device turns pink.
• It is not possible to change the set-point using the rotary encoder knob on the thermostat or on
the web page (the controls are disabled).
• The set-point values of the temperature profiles sent by the supervisor to the device are ignored.
