Installation
WARNING
Do not use tools on the
pressure indicator that might cause incendive
sparks - this can cause an explosion.
Only fluids that are compatible with Stainless
Steel and Hastelloy shall be used with the
pressure sensors. This is to ensure the
integrity of the pressure sensor and avoid
fluid leakage.
CAUTION
Do not use the body of the
DPI705E / DPI705E-IS to tighten the pressure
connection, this can cause damage. Use the
flat faces on the pressure connector to hold
the body and tighten the pressure union. Do
not exceed the maximum working pressure of
the instrument.
The pressure port on the DPI705E / DPI705E-IS
and the metal body of the remote sensor
PM700E / PM700E-IS are connected directly to
the circuit earth of the DPI705E / DPI705E-IS.
The DPI705E / DPI705E-IS is battery powered
only and not intended to be connected to any
external electrical connection.
These instructions detail the requirements for using the
DPI705E-IS Intrinsically Safe Pressure Indicator in a
hazardous area. Read the whole publication before
starting.
•
Installation should be carried out by qualified plant
installation technicians in compliance with all local
safety procedures and installation standards. For
example: IEC/EN 60079-14, US National Electrical
Code NFPA 70 or Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
•
Provide additional protection for indicators that may be
damaged in service.
The DPI705E / DPI705E-IS is fitted with a G1/8 connector.
Refer to Figure A2 and key below for connector detail and
correct fitting method:
Note: Maximum torque which should be applied is up to
ISO 228/1, G1/8: 25 Nm (221 in lb).
1. DPI705E / DPI705E-IS pressure connector.
2. Bonded Seal, e.g. Dowty 400-003-4490-41 or
equivalent.
3. ISO 228/1 G1/8 pressure connector.
4. NPT pressure connector.
5. NPT female to G1/8 male adapter IO-ADAPT-1/4NPT
or IO-ADAPT-1/8NPT.
The pressure range is marked on the product label; refer to
item 1 Figure A1.
Batteries
CAUTION
Do not mix cell types. Do not mix
old and new cells.
Remove cells from the unit when placed in
storage for an extended period of time.
If a cell has leaked return the unit to an
approved Druck Service Centre.
For DPI705E-IS use only 4 x AA LR6 primary cells from the
following list:
•
GP 15A Alkaline
•
Energizer Ultimate Lithium

Replacing the Batteries
This symbol indicates that the batteries are low, replace
observing polarity shown on case.
The non intrinsically safe (Blue, DPI705E) unit can operate
from alkaline, Ni-Cd, Ni-MH or lithium batteries. In US and
Canada:
•
Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries must comply with UL 2054,
IEC 62133, IEC 61951-1 or IEC 61951-2 and shall be
acceptable when connected in series.
•
Lithium batteries must comply with UL 1642 and
IEC 62133-2 and shall be acceptable when connected
in series.
•
When replacing a battery, all 4 batteries should be
replaced with fresh/new batteries at the same time.
The intrinsically safe (Yellow, DPI705E-IS) unit shall only
use the batteries specified in section "Batteries" on page 2.
The instrument requires 4 x AA/LR6 batteries. Fit as shown
in Figure A3. Use a small posidrive screwdriver to loosen
the captive screws in the battery compartment cover. The
battery orientation is shown on the back of the instrument
as shown in Figure A3.
Accessory Socket
WARNING
No connection permitted to
devices with independent power source.
The equipment has a single electrical port for connecting a
remote sensor PM700E / PM700E-IS. Refer to item 1 in
Figure A4. For the accessory socket entity parameters
refer to Table A5.
Specific Conditions of Use
1. Use only Energizer Ultimate Lithium Cell Type L91 (AA
type batteries) or GP 15A Alkaline AA with the
equipment.
2. There shall be no mixing of battery types inserted into
the equipment. All batteries inserted must be of the
same electrochemical system, cell design, rated
capacity and made by the same manufacturer.
3. Only fresh batteries to be used with the equipment.
4. Do not recharge the batteries.
5. Ensure the correct polarity of the batteries when
inserted into the equipment.
6. Batteries are only to be installed/replaced by
authorized personnel referring to user manual.
7. Hazardous Area (yellow) product may be used with
flammable liquids. Standard commercial (blue) product
is not to be used with flammable liquids.
8. This assessment covers the basic safety of the
equipment only (hazardous and non-hazardous
locations). It does not cover reliable function,
performance or other properties of the equipment not
related to safety.
9. In order to maintain pressure integrity of the sensors
(subsequently avoiding leakage) the installation and/or
end-application of this equipment must only allow use
of pressure medium fluids that are compatible with the
sensor materials which are Stainless Steel and
Hastelloy.
Declaration Requirements – EU Directive 2014/34/EU
This equipment is designed and manufactured to meet the
essential health and safety requirements not covered by
EU Type Examination Certificate SIRA 19ATEX2014X
when installed as detailed in this guide.
