OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL
SPEEDBOX DUO SERIES ELECTRONIC VARIATOR
The system will work with the two pumps in alternation and cascade. The system
incorporates an LCD screen, which makes parameter configuration very simple and intuitive.
Once the configuration parameters have been entered, the system manages the start-up of
the pumps and the frequency inverters. At the same time, it ensures constant pressure and a
considerable reduction in energy costs because the pumps always use a power proportional
to the demand requested by the network, thus obtaining maximum energy efficiency. To
establish the optimum pressure in the installation, the following concepts should be
considered:
Hm: Max. water column height in m. Depends on the number of floors of the building
and corresponds to the height from the pump to the top floor. Every 10 m height equals
approximately 1 bar (0.98 bar).
Pw: Minimum pressure available on the top floor (normally 1.5 bar).
Pc: Pressure drops with a general and indicative criterion can be considered to be 0.033
bar/m.
Prmin: Minimum resultant pressure. Sum of the previous pressures, corresponds to the
intervention pressure of the pumps.
Indicative example for a 5-storey building equivalent to 15 m with pump at level 0:
Hm =15 m = 1.5 bar Pw = 1,5 bar Pc=15 x 0,033 bar @ 0,5 bar Prmin = 1,5 + 1,5 + 0,5 =
3,5 bar
2. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
•
2 frequency inverters to control the two pumps.
•
Wall mounting.
•
Pump control and overcurrent protection system.
•
Protection system against pump running dry due to lack of water.
•
ART function (Automatic Reset Test). When the device is stopped due to the intervention
of the protection system due to lack of water, the ART tries, at programmed intervals, to
switch on the unit to see if the water supply has been restored.
•
Automatic reset system after power failure. The system is activated in the same state
as before the interruption, maintaining the configuration parameters (see chapter
"CONFIGURATION").
•
STC (Smart Temperature Control) function. When the temperature of the electronic
board exceeds 85 ºC, it automatically decreases the pump's rotation frequency, reducing
heat generation but maintaining the water supply.
