CAUTION *
Do not operate this pump
without personal protective
equipment Pump can
generate noise levels above
85 dB that could result in hearing loss
Failure to comply could result in
personal injury
Bench test and
operation
WARNING
Do not exceed lowest pressure rating of
any component in the system
Make sure all components are in
operable condition Replace any suspect
parts prior to operation
Disconnect air to motor if leakage
occurs anywhere within system
Failure to comply may result in death
or serious personal injury
Initial prime
1 Place pump in fluid to be dispensed
2 Direct hose into appropriate collection
container and connect product hose to
pump fluid outlet
3 Screw connector (2) with thread sealant
into inlet of air motor assembly Tighten
connector securely
4 Install air coupler (3) onto air supply line
5 Make sure air pressure at regulator
reads zero
6 Connect air coupler assembly to
connector
7 Slowly supply air pressure to pump
motor
8 Allow pump to cycle slowly until fluid is
free of air
If pump assembly does not prime, refer to
Troubleshooting, page 11 for details
Starting pressure
9 Set air pressure to 25 psi (1.7 bars)
10 Insert adjusting bar through slot in
air motor tube and into a hole of
packing screw
11 Adjust packing screw until pump
assembly stops
12 Loosen packing screw until pump
assembly begins to cycle
Leakage and stall
With air pressure at zero:
13 Attach control valve to outlet hose of
pump
13.1 Make sure nozzle on control valve
is open
14 Slowly supply air pressure to pump
motor
15 Allow pump to cycle slowly until fluid is
once again free of air
16 Set air pressure to normal operating
pressure
17 Operate control valve into container
18 Shut off control valve
18.1 Visually inspect pump for external
leaks
18.2 Pump should not cycle more than
once or twice in one hour
If pump leaks or does not stall, refer to
Troubleshooting, page 11 for details
19 Check motor for air leakage
If motor leaks, refer to air motor
manual for details

Installation
Additional items that should be incorporated
into the air piping systems are listed in
Table 4
Air line components
Part number Description
5604-2
Moisture separator
7604-B
Regulator and gauge
NOTE
Break-in and wear of upper packings
require user to readjust packing screw:
• after approximately 6 hours of initial
operation This applies to new and
overhauled pumps
• anytime upper packings leak
Packing adjustment
1 Make sure air pressure is zero
2 Operate control valve into container to
releases any pressure within system
3 Insert adjusting bar through slot in
air motor tube and into hole of packing
screw
4 Tighten packing screw (6) clockwise
/
turn

5 Set the air pressure to 25 psi (1.7 bars)
6 Hold the control valve open while aiming
into suitable collection container
7 Loosen packing screw until pump
assembly begins to cycle
