13 Troubleshooting
Problem
The system does not power up.
The system shuts down.
The system does not respond to changes entered on the dis-
play.
The display does not show the correct room temperature.
The system is not blowing cold air.
The system is not blowing hot air.
There is not enough airflow in the system.
The compressor is not stopping.
10
Possible cause
The circuit breaker for the air conditioner is off.
The power button is off on the display.
The voltage on the power supply cable is not high enough.
An electrical part has failed.
The system encountered a hard fault.
The power source has lost power.
An electrical part has failed.
There is a power-related issue with the display, such as a pow-
er interruption, voltage frequency fluctuation, electromagnetic
interference from other equipment, or a similar issue.
The display and the air conditioner unit are not compatible.
The return air sensor is in a position that does not accurately
reflect the cabin temperature.
The temperature of the seawater is too high.
The water flow is inadequate.
The system has lost refrigerant.
The mode on the display is not set to Cool.
The temperature of the seawater is too low.
The reversing valve is stuck.
The auxiliary electric heater is enabled but not connected.
The mode is not set to Heat on the display.
The system has lost refrigerant.
The airflow is blocked or restricted.
The system is running in limit mode to pay for abnormal oper-
ating conditions caused by environmental factors such as sea-
water temperature, load, etc.
The variable speed compressor technology slows down, but
does not stop unless the temperature set point is exceeded by
1 °F (0.6 °C).
Suggested remedy
Turn on the circuit breaker at the vessel's panel.
Turn on the power button on the display.
1.
Verify the voltage on the power supply cable.
2.
Check the wiring and terminals for proper sizes and con-
nections. Refer to the installation manual that came with
the air conditioner.
3.
Use a voltmeter to verify that the power is the same at the
air conditioner and at the power source.
Contact a qualified service technician.
1.
Check the fault history. Refer to
Troubleshoot
2.
Follow the corresponding troubleshooting steps in this
section.
Verify that the power source is supplying power.
Contact a qualified service technician.
1.
Turn off or move any high-power electronics near the dis-
play.
2.
Switch the existing display cable for a shielded cable.
3.
If the problem persists, contact a qualified service techni-
cian.
Verify that the display being used is compatible with the air
conditioner.
1.
Reposition the return air sensor to a better location, if
possible.
2.
On the Parameters menu, use the Inside Temp Calibrate
feature to calibrate the air sensor.
Seawater temperature directly affects the unit's efficiency.
For optimal cooling, the water temperature must be less than
95 °F (35 °C).
Verify that there are no obstructions in the water flow.
Contact a qualified service technician.
Change the mode to Cool.
Seawater temperature directly affects the unit's efficiency. For
the unit to heat (if the reverse-cycle option is available), the wa-
ter temperature must be 40 °F (4.44 °C) or higher.
1.
Lightly press on the valve with a rubber mallet while the
system is in Heat mode.
2.
If the problem persists, contact a qualified service techni-
cian.
1.
On the Parameters menu, set Aux Elec Heat to Off.
2.
Verify that the breaker for the auxiliary heater is in the on
position.
Change the mode to Heat.
Contact a qualified service technician.
1.
Remove any obstructions in the return air stream.
2.
Clean the return air filter and grille.
3.
Check for crushed or restricted ducting.
The ducting must be as straight, smooth, and firmly sup-
ported as possible.
On the Troubleshoot menu, check System Status for the op-
erating mode. If the system cannot resume normal operation
within an hour, a Limit Mode alarm will be sent to the display
until normal operation can be resumed.
Adjust the temperature set point or use the power button on
the display to manually turn off the system.
