NOTE: Emergency lighting systems should be tested in accordance with
NFPA 101 or as often as local codes require, to ascertain that all
components are operational.
NOTE: Allow batteries to charge for 24 hours before initial testing.
Clearing a failure indication:
To clear a failure indication, press the "TEST" button for 4 seconds,
unit will reboot. Upon completion of rebooting, the unit will operate
normally for 2 hours to support troubleshooting of the failure. After 2
hours, the unit will repeat the test that caused the failure in order to
verify the failure has been corrected. A full charge battery condition
will be required before test will start.
Note: Older versions of this product only clear the failure after a 1
second button press and do not issue a retest. The operator should
manually initiate a manual 90-minute test to validate failure has been
corrected.
Manual testing:
If the batteries are sufficiently charged, either press and release the
"TEST" button or use the RTKIT (remote tester accessory, up to 40'
away for SDRT) on the bottom of the unit to activate a 60-second test,
during which the lamps will turn on. Triggering either option a second
time will enable a 90-minute tests indicated by 5 flashes of the lamps.
Triggering either option a third time will disable manual testing.
Self-Diagnostics (SD option)
Units with this option automatically perform a 5-minute self-diagnostic
test of the charging electronics, battery, and lamps every 30 days,
and a 90-minute test every year, indicating system status as shown in
the table at right. First 5-minute self test occurs within 15 days of
continuous AC Power and a fully charged battery.
Postponing a self-test:
If an automatic self-test occurs at a time when it is not desirable for
the unit lamps to be on, it can be postponed for 8 hours either by
pressing and releasing the "TEST" button or by using RTKIT (remote
tester accessory, up to 40' away).
Cancelling emergency operation:
While in emergency mode, press and hold the "TEST" button for
several seconds or activate using the RTKIT (remote tester
accessory, up to 40' away), during which the status indicator will flash
until the lamps turn off. This restores the AC reset state in which the
unit is shipped.

Caution:
This equipment monitors the lamp load. If the loading is
changed, the derangement signal requires calibration (referred to
Load-Learning feature) to ensure proper operation.
Load-Learning feature:
Self-Diagnostic units automatically 'learn' their total connected
lamp load during the first scheduled self-test (~15 days) or the
first manual test after the battery is fully charged. The learned
value can be cleared by pressing and holding the "TEST" button
for 7 seconds (count green flashes only), during this period the
lamps will turn on. After 7 seconds, release the button, the lamps
will turn off within 2 seconds indicating load clear function has
completed. If lamps stay on longer, load clear was not successful,
and the process should be repeated. This manual load clear
should be performed whenever the total connected lamp load of
the unit is changed, or a lamp is replaced.
This feature automatically forces a load learn and test to quickly
prove the problem has been corrected. While this process is
active, test switch functionality is disabled, and normal status
indication will be interrupted by a short red blink every 2 seconds.
The first step clears the load, the next step will wait for a full
charge of battery and force a 1-minute test to learn the new load.
This full charge and 1 minute discharge is then repeated to
validate the problem has been corrected.
Note: Older versions of the product only perform a load clear and
relearn the load on the next discharge from a full charge.
NOTE: The remote tester should not be used to initiate the load
Learning feature.
Disable / Enable Scheduled Testing:
The default state of and SDRT unit has scheduled testing
enabled. To disable, briefly press the "TEST" button to place the
unit in a test state. While the lamps are on in Test mode, press
the "TEST" button again holding it for 6 seconds (count green
flashes only on status LED), then release the "TEST" button. The
status indicator will then show 5 short amber flashes and the
lamps will turn off. This amber flashing indicates disabling of
future automatically-scheduled testing.
To re-enable scheduled testing, repeat the above procedure. The
five short status indicator flashes will be green instead of amber
to indicate that scheduled testing is now enabled. The next
scheduled monthly test after re-enabling could take up to 30
days. The next scheduled annual test could take up to 360 days.
Note: Older versions of the product do not support this function.
