4 Mode of action
• Fixation of the residual limb with prosthesis by locking pin or vacuum socket technology
• Compression of the stump (edema prevention, reduction of stump volume changes)

4.1 Indication
The silicone liners are to be used exclusively for prosthetic care after amputation of the lower
extremities.
4.2 Contraindication
• Excessive soft tissue or overlapping soft tissue
• Instable knee joint
• no residual limb end load possible
• poor hygienic conditions
• very sensitive neuromas
• allergic reactions / intolerance to the material(s
• contact with irritated or damaged skin
• contact with open wounds
5 Characteristics
• for optimal adhesion at the residual limb
• excellent circular expansion adjusts to the stump-anatomy
• silicone is antibacterial fitted
• simple handling and care (cleaning)

6 Size selection
First measure the distal circumference approximately 4 cm (1 ½") above the distal end of the
residual limb and select the silicone liner in the same size (for initial silicone liner care) or one
size smaller (for post-liner care) (see Fig. 1).
