General Set Up and Start Up

Refer to Fig. 1 on page 6 for set up and start up referenced
items.
Set Up Procedures
1. Connect red air hose (F) to air outlet fitting of pump
assembly (G). Connect other end of hose (E) to air inlet
on bottom of spray gun (see spray gun owner's manual
for proper installation).
2. Connect black fluid hose (B) to fluid outlet fitting of
pump assembly (C). Connect other end of fluid hose (A)
to fluid inlet fitting on spray gun (see spray gun owner's
manual for proper installation).
3. Check pump lubricator fluid level.
Lubrication: Pumps must be lubricated at the air inlet
to comply with warranty. SAE 10 weight non-detergent
oil is most commonly used. An alternative lubricant
is ethylene glycol (automotive antifreeze). This is
recommended when oil aerosols from the exhaust may
cause contamination and `fish eyes' on surface to be
coated. Be sure to follow all safety cautions associated
with use of these potentially hazardous lubricants.
Under extreme conditions, the pump can be operated
without lubrication. However, the warranty would be
voided, and the life expectancy of the pump would be
reduced. Despite what lubrication method is chosen,
the pump assembly must be operated from a clean, dry
air source.
4. Ground pump. Locate grounding lug. Connect ground
wire to lug and opposite wire end to a true earth
ground.
WARNING
See state and local electrical codes on grounding
this equipment. Failure to properly ground
equipment can result in sparking that may ignite
volatile materials.
Note: Ground wire is not supplied. User must provide
to ensure proper length.
5. Make sure all regulators are set to 0 (zero) psi. Turn all
regulator dials counter clockwise to decrease pressure.
6. Refer to spray gun owner's manual for additional
spray gun set up procedures.
Start Up Procedure
1. Connect air hose in from the compressed air source
(L) to the air inlet fitting of the pump assembly (I). All
regulators should be set to zero psi. (See previous
set up procedure instructions).
Note: Check to make sure spray gun is not triggered
open.
2. Insert pick-up tube assembly (N) into material to be
sprayed.
3. Insert return line assembly (M) into material to be
sprayed.
4. Open prime/spray valve (R). (Open position: Handle of
valve is parallel to return line).
5. Slowly increase pressure by turning knob of pump air
regulator clockwise. Increase pressure until fluid
re-circulates through the return line.
6. Close prime/spray valve (R). (Closed position: Handle
of valve is perpendicular to return line).
7. Pump assembly is now primed and ready for use.
8. Refer to spray gun owner's manual for additional set
up procedures prior to use.
Setup and Operation of Optional Items:
Fluid Regulator: All models of the 3/8" Diaphragm Fluid
Pump Assembly may be ordered with a precision fluid
pressure regulator. Use of this regulator allows more precise
control of low viscosity materials. Adjust fluid pressure to
desired output by turning the large knob on the regulator
clockwise to increase the pressure.
Agitator: The five gallon pail mount system (43-7213) is
available with an optional air powered paint mixer. To use
the agitator, open the valve located on the air motor by
turning it counter-clockwise until the mixer blade begins to
turn. Adjust the valve to achieve the desired mixer speed.
