PROBLEMS, CAUSES AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

PROBLEM:
Forks fail to hold up or lowers
too rapidly.
Forks lift too slowly.
Pump makes noise.
Mast will not lift load or lift
cylinder does not move.

PROBLEM CAUSE:
1. Oil leaking past
cylinder head.
2. Oil leaking past
control valve.
1. Cold oil.
2. Viscosity of oil too high.
3. Insufficient engine speed.
4. Badly worn pump.
5. Leaking or broken
lines from control valve
to cylinders.
6. Dirty oil.
7. Oil leaking past cylinder
piston seal.
8. Oil leaking past
control valve.
1. Starvation.
1. Mast overloaded.
2. Insufficient or no oil flow
supplied to the cylinder.
3. Relief valve setting
too low.
Mast Troubleshooting Guide
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS:
1. See your dealer.
2. See your dealer.
1. Allow oil to warm up with
slow engine speed.
2. Use oil of proper viscosity.
3. Open throttle.
4. Repair or replace pump.

5. Check for leaks. Tighten or
replace lines.
6. Drain and refill with
new oil.

1. Check for low oil supply.
1. Reduce the load.
2. Check the truck's hydraulic
system: low oil level,
defective pump, damaged
control valve or leaks in
supply line. Make repairs
as required.
NOTE: Anytime oil is added to
the hydraulic tank, check
the lift cylinders
for air, they may need to
be bled.
3. Adjust relief valve,
do not exceed
recommended setting.
