1. Safety instructions
This product should be Installed and con-
nected by skilled electricians and ins-
tructed
personnel
in
accordance
IEC/EN 60079-14 and the respective national
legislation on electrical equipment for explo-
sive atmospheres.
The national safety rules and regulations for
the prevention of accidents, as well as the sa-
fety instructions, like this text set in bold-ita-
lics in these operating instructions manual,
shall be observed.
The luminaries must not be operated in Zone
0 , 1 or 20 hazardous areas.
The requirements of IEC/EN 60079-31 regar-
ding excessive dust deposits and temperatu-
re must be considered by the user. The indi-
cated surface temperatures are not related to
a layer above 5mm thickness.The indicated
surface temperatures are not related to a la-
yer above 5mm thickness
Before opening, electrical power to the lumi-
naire must be turn off during at least 15 mi-
nutes.
The temperature class and explosion group
stated on the luminaire shall be observed. To
ensure adherence to the temperature class
or surface temperature stated on the type la-
bel of the luminaire, the permissible ambient
temperature shall be observed.
Light fi tting shall be used for their intended
purpose and shall be undamaged and in a
perfect and clean conditions.
Keep tightly closed when in operation.
The technical data indicated in point 3 as well
as those indicated in light fi tting, must be ob-
served.
Modifi cations or design changes to this lumi-
naries that can affect the explosion protec-
tion are not permitted.
Avoid multiple, short time switching opera-
tion Only EATON Crouse-Hinds Series origi-
nal spare parts may be used as replacements
and for repairs.
Repairs that affect explosion protection may
only be carried out by EATON Crouse-Hinds
Division or by a qualifi ed electrician in com-
pliance with the respective national regula-
tions.
Prior to being put into operation, the lumina-
ries shall be checked in accordance with the
instructions as per section 6.
Before initial operation, any foreign matter
shall be removed from light fi tting, do not
keep this operating instructions manual insi-
de of the luminaire during its operation.
2. Conformity with standards
This equipment is conform to the standards specifi ed in
the EU-Declaration of conformity. It has been designed,
manufactured and tested according to the state of the
art and according to EN ISO 9001 and IEC/EN 80079-
34.

4. Field of aplication
The luminaire is intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres Zone 2 according to IEC/EN 60079-10-1 and
Zone 21 and Zone 22 in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-10-2.
The enclosure materials used, including any external metal parts, are high quality materials that ensure corrosion
resistance and resistance to chemical substances according to the requirements for use in a ''normal'' industrial
atmosphere. As an example, among others, the following:
- Copper-free aluminum.
- Stainless steel.
- Epoxy powder fi nish.
In case of use in an extremely aggressive atmosphere, please refer to manufacturer.
5. Application / Properties
The luminaire can be used inside or outside to light areas with potentially explosive atmospheres.
6. Installation
Respective national and local codes and standards which apply to the installation and operation of explosion-pro-
tected apparatus must be observed. Transport and storage of the luminaire is permitted in original packaging and
specifi ed positions only.
6.1 Mounting
A) Pole Mount with SFA6 Slipfi tter
1. Using the 1/2'' (12mm) bolts, nuts, and lock washers provided, securely fasten the fl oodlight yoke to the fl ange on
the SFA6 slipfi tter. See Figure 1. Refer to Figure 2 for slipfi tter dimensions. Torque the bolts to 45 lbs.-ft. (61Nm).
Note: Angular positioning of the fl oodlight will be done later.
2. Place the SFA6 slipfi tter adapter with the secured fl oodlight onto the 2" (50mm) pole top tenon.
3. Secure by tightening the slipfi tter base bolts. Torque base bolts to 19 lbs.-ft. (26Nm).
B) Wall Bracket Mount - Wall Mount Using SWB6 Wall Mount Bracket and SFA6 Slipfi tter
1. Determine the mounting location of the SWB6 bracket using the bolt hole pattern shown in Figure 2.
2. Mount the SWB6 bracket (with elbow pointing up) using four (4)1/2'' (12mm) bolts or lag screws (not provided) or
by welding in position.
3. Using the 1/2'' (12mm) bolts, nuts, and lock washers provided, securely fasten the fl oodlight yoke to the fl ange
on the SFA6 slipfi tter. Torque the bolts to 45 lbs.-ft. (61 Nm).
4. Position the SFA6 Slipfi tter onto the SWB6 bracket.
5. Secure by tightening the slipfi tter base bolts. Torque base bolts to 19 lbs.-ft. (26 Nm).
C) Yoke Mount - Wall Mount Using Floodlight Yoke Only
1. Using fl oodlight yoke as a template, mark and drill desired location on mounting surface.
2. Secure fl oodlight yoke to surface using 1/2'' (12mm) bolts or lag screws (not provided).
6.2 Cable entries: blanking plugs
Only certifi ed cable entries and blanking plugs are permitted for use. Flexible cables shall be used with trumpet-
shaped cable glands or other suitable entries with additional pull-relief. When using cable entries with a lower IP
protection than that which applies to the device (see technical data), the IP protection of the whole device will be
reduced. The mounting directives applicable to the cable entries used shall be observed. Unused holes shall be
closed with a certifi ed blanking plug in order to establish the minimum protection category. In case of sealing inserts
that are cut out, it shall be ensured that the insert is properly adapted to the cable diameter. In order to ensure the
required minimum protection category, the cable glands are to be tightened down.
Over-tightening might impair the protection category, (M20 suplied Ex blanking plug, torque 23Nm).
ATTENTION: When tightening the cap nut of the (type ADL/ADE) metal cable entry, care must be taken not
to twist the cable.
All vacant cable entries shall be closed with the certifi ed blanking plug.
