In the event of a fire
WARNING!
If a fire occurs, do not try to retrieve possessions from your
Sentry product. It is UL-classified to protect even papers from
loss. For your safety, get out of the building immediately and
stay out.
During the fire, tell the fire fighters where your safe is, so
they can keep it cool and retrieve it when safe.
Contact your local fire department or Sentry Group Customer
Service, 1-800-828-1438.
Placing and securing your safe
WARNING!
Do not move your safe with the door open.
The door is heavy. If it swings, it can cause injury.
For maximum fire safety
Keep your safe on the lowest floor possible. If a fire
damages the flooring, there will be less danger of injury to
fire fighters below, or of damage to your safe's contents. In
the event of a fire, tell the fire fighters where your safe is,
so they can keep it cool and retrieve it after the fire.
To help deter theft
No safe is theft-proof. With the right tools, time and skill, any
safe can be opened. Therefore, for greater security:
Place your safe with the hinge away from the wall and
the door opening next to the wall. This makes it harder to pry
open.
If possible, conceal your safe.
Keep your safe closed and locked when not in use.
You may bolt your safe to the floor, using the
instructions included in this information (not all models
contain bolt-down kit).
Don't keep your combination near the safe, and don't
tell it to others.
Don't tell other people where you keep your your safe
— except the fire department, if there is a fire.
Water Resistance Protection
Advanced models with numbers beginning with A or J and
models S0491 and S0891 protect contents from water damage.
The Sentry Group Quality Department has subjected these
water resistant safes to the following conditions:
• tested for 15 minutes with up to 1,000 gallons of water spray
• tested in 6 inches of water for 1 hour.
Lost combination or keys
IMPORTANT: Please read the following instructions
carefully. For your protection, new keys and
combinations CANNOT be issued by telephone
request. To order replacement keys and/or
combinations, it is essential that you MAIL the items
listed in each category below to Sentry Group with
your order. If you need assistance in preparing your
order, please call Sentry Customer Service toll-free
Monday–Friday at 1-800-828-1438.
Lost combination: First, find your safe's Model and Serial
Number. The Serial Number is in this packet, and is also
printed on the small label beside the door hinge (outside).
Send this, a notarized letter stating you are the safe's owner,
and a check or money order for $6.00 (U.S. funds) to:
Sentry Group, Dept. 200, 882 Linden Avenue, Rochester, NY
14625-2784 USA.
Lost keys: To obtain replacement keys, find your safe's
Model and Serial Number. The Serial Number is in this packet,
and is also printed on the small label beside the door hinge
(outside).
Order by Mail: Send this along with check or money
order (U.S. funds) for $5.00 to: Sentry Group, Dept. 200,
882 Linden Avenue, Rochester, NY 14625-2784 USA.

Section –"Combination/Key Requests". Scroll to Key
Request and fill in your model, lock number and serial

What to store in your safe
Your Sentry product is UL-classified to protect documents
from the typical building fire. Valuable or hard-to-replace
documents that need protection include:
• Insurance policies
• List of possessions for insurance purposes
(home inventory)
• Titles, deeds, contracts
• Birth certificates, marriage license, legal decrees
and agreements
• Stock and bond certificates
• Financial records (tax, mortgage and other loans, receipts,
cancelled checks)
• Diplomas, certificates, licenses, transcripts
• Health care information
• Wills and trusts
• Pet registrations
Many other important items need fire protection, too, and can
benefit from storage in your Sentry product. These include:
• Family heirlooms — diaries, letters, clippings, scrapbooks
• Collections
• Photographs
• Childhood mementos
• Keepsakes with sentimental value
WARNING!
Not for weapons storage.
This product is not intended for nor recommended for the
storage of firearms, ammunition, explosives, explosive devices
or weapons. Sentry Group disclaims any responsibility or
liability for any damage or injury resulting from the storage
of these items in this product.
No computer disks, audio-visual media or
photo negatives.
This product is not intended to protect computer diskettes,
cartridges and tapes, audio or video cassettes. For fire­
resistant storage of these materials, ask your retailer for
the Sentry Fire-Safe media products.
Protect delicate items!
The inside of your safe is subject to humidity. If you wish to
store stamps or other delicate items which may be affected by
moisture, place them in an airtight container before storing
them in your safe.
No pearls, please.
Pearls may become discolored from exposure to heat.
