4.3. Machines connected to the processor

External equalizers must be used with care because the EPC200s already does a
pre-equalization and is possible to feed excessive energy to the system thus yielding to an overload.
The processor has been designed to give an equilibrated sound. Any external equalization should be
limited to ±6dB, more than enough to compensate possible hall and/or equipment deficiencies.
However, if a mixer with +15dB tone control is used, make special attention to possible saturation
of the system by checking the processor overload indicators (3-4-5).

5. CONSIDERATIONS

5.1. Ground loops

Be always sure that all the signal sources connected to the processor do not have their
grounds interconnected between them. The cable shielding, when connected to the chassis, can
never be interconnected between them. If after all, there is still noise, use the GROUND LINK
switch (19) so that electrical and mechanical grounds will be disconnected.

5.2. Audio connections

As a general rule, make the signal connections as short as possible and use the best
connectors and cable available. Cables and connectors are frequently undervaluated, forgetting that
a bad connection can result in a poor sound reproduction.

5.3. Background noise

The use of active circuitry can yield, depending on the configuration, to a significant noise
level. The EPC200s have been designed for the least possible noise. Anyway, the noise level will
always depend on the correct use and installation of the whole system and, specially, the mixer.

5.4. Cleaning

The front panel should not be cleaned with dissolvent or abrasive substances because
silk-printing could be damaged. To clean it, use a soft cloth slightly wet with water and neutral
liquid soap; dry it with a clean cloth. Be careful that water never gets into the unit through the
holes of the front panel.
