3. INSTALLATION

3.1. Placement and mounting

The acoustic characteristics of the room, hall... and the number of
assistants must be taken into account. General rules valid for any case:
Place the acoustic cabinets on solid and firm surfaces. The bass
reinforcement cabinets DPC118 should be paired so that their marks are
face to face (see diagram), ensuring optimal low frequency reproduction.
The Bass enclosures are more efficient when placed directly on the floor in
landscape orientation rather than vertical, elevated or hanged. We
recommend to stack the bass cabinets vertically for a better sound quality.
Be sure that there is not any obstacle between the mid-treble
cabinets and the audience; the high frequencies are extremely directive and
any obstacle represents an attenuation. For a big audience, the higher you
place the mid-treble cabinets, the better sound propagation you will get.
Although all the DPC cabinets protect the loudspeakers with a grille and a
foam do not expose the system to the sun for long periods and avoid the
rain.
3.2. Rigging speaker enclosures
Following general guidelines must be considered:
- Always place acoustic enclosures on solid and firm ground.
- No obstacles should lie between the loudspeakers and the
audience.
- High frequencies, as opposed to low frequencies, tend to be
much more directional and any obstacle in the acoustic wave path
represents attenuation in the frequency response of the system.
The midrange and high frequency cabinets DPC215 feature an
effective flying system consisting in four adjustable tracks, the same
types as used in air cargo equipment (ISO 7166 standard). These
tracks allow flying one or two rows of enclosures, directly hanging the
second row directly from the first one. Four tracks are fitted at the
cabinet walls, two at the top and two at the bottom. These fittings are
additionally fixed to the lateral walls via internal metal braces. The
bottom tracks not only allow hanging additional enclosures, but also
permit a tilt of the system.
