9.4 Network

9.4.1 Network selection

1. If you select Network selection you can select either Automatic or
Manual.
2. If you select Automatic, connection continues according to the
Automatic network selection procedures.
3. If you configure the Network mode to GSM-preferred, UMTS-
preferred or Automatic, all the currently available PLMN lists are
found, and you can select one item from the list for registration.
If you configure the Network mode to GSM only, the currently
available UMTS PLMN list is found, and you can select one item
from the list for registration.
If you configure the Network mode to UMTS only, the currently
available GSM PLMN list is found, and you can select one item
from the list for registration.
9.4.2 Network mode
1. If you configure the Network mode to GSM-preferred, the phone
searches for available GSM PLMN first and then searches for
UMTS PLMN when it is turned on. That is, the phone is
registered to the GSM network first and then registered to UMTS
when it is turned on.
2. If you configure the Network mode to UMTS-preferred, the phone
searches for available UMTS PLMN first and then searches for
GSM PLMN. That is, the phone is registered to the UMTS
network first and then registered to GSM when it is turned on.
3. If you configure the Network mode to GSM only, the phone only
searches for available GSM PLMN when it is turned on. If the
phone is outside of the GSM service area, the phone enters the
No service status.
