1. Operating instructions

1.1 Unit description
The hydraulically controlled instantaneous
water heater DHF ... C compact control
heats the water as it is flowing through the
unit. As soon as a hot water tap is turned on,
the heating output is switched on
automatically after the switch-on quantity is
exceeded.
The temperature of the hot water
is dependent on the flow rate and
temperature of the incoming cold water.
1.2 The main points in brief
Output selector
Half heating output
!
Only half the heating output is switched
on:
" " " " " suitable e.g. for hand washing.
!! Maximum heating output
With a low flow rate half the heating
output is switched on, at a higher flow
rate the full heating output is
automatically switched on:
" " " " " suitable e.g. for bathing, showering or
washing up.
Low tap quantity
" " " " " high outlet temperature.
High tap quantity
" " " " " low outlet temperature.
If with the tap fully opened the required
outlet temperature is not reached, more
water is flowing through the unit than the
heating element can heat (output limit 12,
13, 15, 18, 21 or 24 kW). In this case the
water quantity at the hot water tap must
be reduced accordingly.
At outlet temperatures of over 43 °C
there is a risk of scalding.

for the user and qualified installer
1.3 Important instruction
In the case of temperature selection,
water temperatures of over 55 °C
can be reached at the hot water outlet.
High temperatures can be achieved if the
unit is switched off and then on again
quickly. Small children should therefore be
kept away from the hot water outlets.
Danger of scalding!
If the water feed of the DHF ... C has
been interrupted - e.g. because of the dan-
ger of frost or work on the water pipe, the
following steps must be taken before the
unit is brought back into operation:
1. Remove or switch off fuses.
2. Open a tap downstream of the unit
until the unit and the cold water feed
pipe are free of air.
3. Replace or switch on fuses again.
1.4 Hot water output
According to the time of year, the following
maximum mixed water quantities or outlet
quantities are delivered, in the case of various
cold water temperatures (see Table 1):
ϑ
= cold water feed temperature

ϑ
= mixed water temperature
2
ϑ

3
• Useful temperature:
– approx. 38 °C: e.g. for showers, hand was-
hing, bathing etc.
– approx. 55 °C: for dishwashing and when
using thermostatic fittings.

1.5 Setting recommendation
# Operation with twin-handle fitting:
" " " " " Wash basin:
Half heating output, select !.
" " " " " Bath, shower or sink:
Maximum heating output, select !!.
If in spite of the hot water tap being
fully open the temperature is too high,
cold water must be mixed in.
# Operation with one-hand mixer:
" " " " " Wash basin:
Half heating output, select !.
" " " " " Bath, shower or sink:
Maximum heating output, select !!.
– Turn lever of fitting fully to "hot".
– Fully open fitting
– Increase temperature by slowly closing
the fitting
– Reduce temperature by mixing in cold
water or, if possible by opening the
fitting further.
# Operation with thermostatic fitting:
" " " " " Maximum heating output, select !!.
– Follow the instructions of the fitting
manufacturer.
1.6 First actions to be taken
in the event of malfunc-
tion
• Check the fuses
• Check the fittings and shower heads for
lime scale blockage or dirt accumulation.
See also "3. Fault finding by the user".
1.7 Maintenance and care
21
24
Maintenance work, such as for
example checking the electrical
safety, may only be carried out by a quali-
fied installer.
A damp cloth is sufficient for care of the unit.
Do not use any abrasive or corrosive clean-
21
24
ing agents.

Keep these instructions carefully and
pass them on to your successor in
the event of a change in ownership, in the
event of maintenance and possible repair
work they should be passed to the quali-
fied installer for his attention.
