RH 656W

Overview

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death to
yourself or others, read the Safety instructions
section found on the previous pages of this
manual before operating the machine.

Design and function

RH 656W pusher leg rock drill is water-flushed and
intended for air pressures of 4–6 bar. The pusher leg
rock drill is assigned for the following operations:
RH 656W is used in many underground construction
and mining applications. It is suitable for soft to
medium hard rock formations. No other use is
permitted.
It has a good ratio between high penetration and low
air consumption. Due to low weight, it can also be
used as a sinker. The rock drill is supplied with a
T-handle. It has water flushing and a robust rifle bar

rotation mechanism.

The pusher leg support is for helping the operator to
lift and feed the rock drill during drilling operations.
Pusher leg control is placed on the pusher leg. The
machine can be used together with the BMK 62S
pusher leg.
The rock drill is equipped with a chuck bushing for a
22x108 mm hexagon shank. The machine is
equipped with a 20 mm (

a 12.5 mm (½ in.) connection for water.

Safety and operating instructions

Control valve mechanism

The valve directs the air alternately from one side to
the other of the piston so that it moves up and down.
The piston transmits the energy through the drill steel
to the bottom of the hole.
Rotation mechanism
Impact stroke
The drill steel is turned slightly with each blow by the
rifle bar rotation. The rotation is anti-clockwise and
is applied on the return stroke of the piston.
Flushing
Flushing is ducted through two concentric tubes, the
outer one for air and the inner one for water. This
means that flushing air is provided as soon as the
compressed air is switched on. The purpose is to
prevent water from entering the percussion
mechanism of the rock drill.
