4. Selection and Use of Filters/ Filter Classification Table
In addition when using gas filters, no hazar
dous particulates such as mist must be
present and when using particulate filters,
no hazardous gases must be present. In
case of doubt, use of combination filters is
recommended. The filters only provide res
piratory protection and other forms of pro
tection may be required as well e.g. for skin.

4.1 Filter changing

The user of any filtering device must be
qualified and trained in its use with the
selected filter, respiratory inlet covering and
OptimAir 3000 combination in a faultless
condition and suitable for the intended
application. See table for EN 12941and
EN12942 classifications.
The filters must intact, taken from packaging
and assembled tightly to the device in line
with the instructions, observing all checks.
Always use filters or filter combinations in
pairs of the same type.

4.2 Filter life

Service life for all filters depends on the con
ditions of use, with end of life detection for
gas filters being usually apparent by odour
detection on the clean side and for particle
filters normally by a low flow alarm or a cali
bration failure alarm when the unit is switched
on. Particle filters should be one time use
only when used as protection against radio
active substances, micro organisms or sub
stances with bio chemical activity.
The end of storage life for factory sealed
and properly stored gas filters is marked on
the filter and for particle filters is not limited.
There are no maintenance procedures asso
ciated with OptimAir filters.
