The amplifier BSX 160 can be connected to all car radios fitted with a
PREAMP OUTPUT (DIN 45 326) or Cinch connector.
For the connection to car radio with ISO connector, use the enclosed ISO
Cinch adapter or the adapter 7 607 874 003 (ISO-DIN).

Safety Notes

Installation and connection recommendations
Disconnect the vehicle battery's negative terminal before making
connections.
Make sure to observe the safety instructions of the car manufacturer
(especially with regard to airbags, alarm systems, on-board computers
or vehicle immobilisers).
Before drilling holes, look to see what is on the other side. Make sure not
to damage any parts of the vehicle (battery, wiring looms, fuse box).
Choose an appropriate location for mounting the BSX 160, for example
at the splash wall, under the dashboard, beneath a seat or in the boot.
Fig. 1
Ensure that there is enough air circulation at the mounting location for
adequate heat dissipation.
To avoid possible interference, all cables should be routed at a sufficient
distance to the wiring harnesses.
Use the enclosed cable ducts at sharp-edged holes.
Use only loudspeakers with an impedance of 4 ohms. Take into account
their maximum power handling capacity (max. power).
Use only loudspeaker connection cables with a cross-section of up to 16
mm

. Never connect speaker leads to the vehicle ground. Ensure to use
only the terminals designated correspondingly.
The cross-section of the positive cable most not be lower than 2.5 mm
The unit is protected with a quick-acting 30 A fuse.
Possible applications
Full range
2 x 80 watts or 1 x 160 watts
Low pass
2 x 80 watts or 1 x 160 watts, subwoofer cuoff frequency
80 Hz, slope 18 dB octave
Plus/minus connection
Route the enclosed positive cable to the battery and connect it via the
fuse contact. Connect the fuse holder close to the battery.
Use the enclosed cable ducts at sharp-edged holes.
Screw the enclosed positive cable to an interference-free ground spot
(chassis screw or plate). Do not connect it to the negative terminal of
the battery. The contact area of the ground source must be blank and
lubricated with graphite grease.

Connection to car radios with ISO output
Connection to car radios with loudspeaker output
When connecting the amplifier via Cinch or loudspeaker sockets, the
switching line must be connected.
GAIN ADJ
The Gain Adjust control button can be adjusted between 0.3 and 2 V.
When connecting a Blaupunkt car radio, adjust the control button to 2 V.
If a car radio of another brand shall be connected, adjust the input
sensitivity as detailed in the car radio specification.
Loudspeaker connection
2 x 80 W
1 x 160 W
It is not permissible to connect the loudspeakers as is illustrated
in Fig. 10.
