• The thermometer should not be exposed to extreme tempe-
ratures below -20 ºC or above +50 ºC.
• The appliance may not be used if the relative humidity
exceeds 85 %.
• The glass in front of the lens is cleaned with a cotton wool
bud lightly moistened with a 70 % alcohol solution.
• If you should encounter problems with your new appliance,
please contact the seller. Never attempt to repair it yourself.

4. Intended use

The non-contact infrared thermometer has been specially de-
veloped for non-contact temperature measurements on the
surface of the body and on the forehead of small children and
adults without touching the body of the person concerned. The
thermometer is intended both for private use at home and as a
reference appliance for doctors and clinics.
The appliance has been manufactured in compliance with the
ASTM 1965-1998 standard specifications for infrared thermo-
meters for the provisional determination of the temperature of
patients.
In addition, the surface temperature function of the non-contact
infrared thermometer can be used, for example, to determine
the temperature of a baby's bottle or bath water. This conforms
to the EMC directive 89/336/EEC.
The declaration of conformity in accordance with 92/43/EEC
applies only to the medical use of the product. Use for all non-
medical measurements - whether non-contact or by means of
contact - was not a subject of the conformity appraisal proce-
dure in accordance with the above-mentioned directive.
The appliance conforms to the specifications of EEC Directive
93/42 for medical products.
