COARSE SEARCH

Hold the
ZOOM+
in a horizontal posi-
tion during the coarse search!
At a distance of approx. 40m from
the avalanche victim, the direction
arrow (6) and distance indicator (7)
appear on the screen.
The sharp signal analysis leads the
searcher directly along the field line
to the destination. The coarse search
can occur "quickly".
The acoustic signal from the loud-
speaker (9) gets faster and louder as
you approach. The distance indicator
goes down and confirms that you
are getting closer.
EXAMPLE SCREEN
The nearest transmitter is 20m
away. Direction: straight on! Several
transmitters (8) are displayed.

FINE SEARCH

The fine search starts automatically
when you are 2m away. The direction
arrow is switched off.
The nearest transmitter is 0.5 m
away. The symbol for several trans-
mitters flashes – i.e. there are mul-
tiple transmitters within a circular
distance of less than 10m. The closer
you are to the victim, the faster and
louder the acoustic signal beeps.
During the fine search, use system-

atic cross lines to determine the
smallest distance; do not rotate the

No smaller distance measurements

appear. The victim has been located.

PINPOINT SEARCHES

AND PRObING
Mark the exact burial point with the
probe.
To precisely determine the victim's
location at the exact spot with the
smallest distance measurement,
carefully probe at systematic inter-
8
vals of 20cm.
Probe perpendicularly to the surface
of the snow. After determining the
victim's location, the probe should
remain in the snow.
