Damage due to wear and tear
► Instruct the patient to inspect the support / orthosis for proper func
tionality, wear and damage prior to each use.
► Advise the patient that the support / orthosis must not be used if a
closure or other part of the support / orthosis shows signs of wear.
INFORMATION
The patient must be instructed to see a physician immediately if any
exceptional changes are noted (e. g. worsening of the complaint).
3 Handling
INFORMATION
The daily duration of use and usage period are generally determined by
the physician. Initial fitting and application of the support/orthosis must
be performed by trained specialists. The patient must be instructed on
how to handle and care for the support/orthosis.
3.1 Selecting the size
1) Measure the waist circumference approx. 2 cm above the iliac crest.
2) Determine the orthosis size (see size table).
3.2 Fitting and Application
1) Application (see Fig. 1): Place the orthosis over the shoulders like a
backpack.
2) Hook and loop material: Route the ends of the lower strap to the
front (see Fig. 2) and secure the hook and loop closure (see Fig. 3).
Route the ends of the shoulder strap to the front around the chest and
secure the hook and loop closure below the chest (see Fig. 4)
