A- GENERAL INFORMATION

The following instructions will insure the correct installation of REDEX-ANDANTEX multi-speed
units and spiral bevel gearboxes provided they are adhered to carefully. They also contain,
essential information regarding maintenance.
The instructions in this manual must be adhered to in order to maintain the product
warranty.
During the design and construction of the gear units consideration was given to ease of mounting
and commissioning. Consequently no special knowledge is necessary for the installation.
All gear units are subjected to vigorous inspection and careful packing, before dispatch. However,
upon receipt of the goods they should be checked for damage during transportation and, if
damaged, the carrier should be contacted immediately.
Each unit can be identified through its identification plate and the serial number indicated on it. The
serial number must be given for any correspondence on a particular unit.
A-1. MOUNTING OF TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS ON SHAFTS
Shaft extensions are machined as follows: solid to tolerance j6, hollow to H7.
The shaft extensions are protected by plastic sleeves. Remove grease from the shaft ends, before
assembly, using a suitable solvent.
Important: Ensure that the solvent does not come into contact with the oil seals and cannot seep
into the bearing housings.
The shaft ends are tapped for the mounting of transmission components. Assembly will be
simplified by preheating the component to approximately 70°C.
Under no circumstances must the component be driven into place with a hammer.
A-2. MOUNTING
The spiral bevel gearboxes and multi-speed units must be mounted on a rigid flat support, free
from vibrations and able to withstand the reaction torque. Ensure good alignment of the shafts.
A-3. LONG TERM STORAGE
Gearboxes which are not installed soon after receipt should be stacked in a dry atmosphere and in
the mounting position ordered. The units should be completely filled with oil for storage. (ex.
Mobilorma).
