Intended use

Bewados
®
module mineral substance metering
units protect water pipes (pipe "sealing") and at-
tached fixtures and equipment, in particular from
lime and/or corrosion.
Function
The water metre in the mineral substance meter-
ing unit measures the water volume flowing
through and sends pulses to the electronic con-
troller. The controller controls the drive motor for
the piston metering pump, which proportionally
adds the active substance to the water flow using
the injection point (4). The metering frequency
appears on the display (6).
A built-in level monitor switches the unit off auto-
matically once the active metered substance has
been used up to prevent the metering pump from
running dry. An audio signal is also emitted.
12
The self-monitoring electronic controller reliably
prevents improper overdosage if a fault occurs and
switches off the unit. The fault appears on the dis-
play (6) and is indicated by an audio signal.
Bewados mineral substance metering units are
DVGW, ÖVGW and SVGW tested in the original
ex-works settings with Quantophos F mineral sub-
stance combinations.
Replace container indicator/audio signal: If in-
dicator
appears and the audio signal is emit-
ted, the active substance container must be re-
placed (indicator
flashes without audio signal
= reserve).
If the message and audio signal do not switch off
once the container has been replaced, a fault has
occurred (see Troubleshooting).

Installation conditions

Observe all applicable installation regulations,
general guidelines and technical specifications.
In keeping with §16 of the German regulations on
the preparation of drinking water, notify residents
that the dosing unit is installed and explain how it
works and what active substance is used.
Note: According to AVB Wasser V §12.22, only
the water supply company or a party registered
in the water supply company's index of fitters
may install the unit or modify its basic design.
If hot-water units are installed downstream, a non-
return valve should be installed. Metering units
have an integrated non-return valve and must not
be installed between the hot water heaters and
excess pressure valve.
A protective filter must be installed upstream from
the mineral substance metering unit to protect the
unit from foreign particles.
The installation site must be protected against frost
and must guarantee the protection of the unit from
all types of chemicals, paint, heating oil, lees, sol-
vent vapours, heat sources above 40°C and di-
rect sunlight.
The electrical outlet must be no more than 1.2m
from the mineral substance metering unit.
