Functional description
An external air supply (e. g. a compressed-air hose device) is
connected to the plug nipple of the control valve. Air is fed
through the control valve into the inside of the chemical
protection suit, and via a compressed-air hose to the face
piece. The control valve is connected inside the chemical
protection suit with the airflow hoses, which distribute the
ventilation volume flow in the suit. The airflow hoses are held
in position in the suit using tabs.
A belt is looped through the strap and serves as strain relief.
The following ventilation rates can be set on the control valve:
0 l/min
5 l/min
30 l/min
120 l/min
2.3
Intended use
The control valve is used to provide the wearer of the chemical
protection suit with additional breathing air. For example, this
can be necessary during decontamination.
In addition, the chemical protection suit can be ventilated.
Excess air escapes via the suit valves. Heat and humidity are
thus purged out of the chemical protection suit and the wearer
notices a cooling effect. Also the overpressure protects from
penetration of chemicals into the chemical protection suit.
2.4
Approvals
The control valve is approved together with the Dräger
CPS 7900 chemical protection suit. It meets the corresponding
standards and guidelines.
Notes for chemical protection suits approved in accordance
with vfdb 0801 : 2006-11:
The control valve must be covered using a cover plate.
The chemical protection suit must be equipped with an
ASV. The ASV may only be used during cleaning and
decontamination.
The external air supply may only be connected to the
control valve if it has been ensured that the connection is
free from hazardous substances.
If a compressed-air hose device is connected, respiratory
protection monitoring must be continued.
The compressed-air hose must be positioned in the
chemical protection suit in such a way that it does not
restrict the freedom of movement of the person wearing the
device.
