5.0 Work procedure
5.3 Working with Hettich
connecting fittings (e.g. VB 36)
5.3.1 Setting up
Using a 2.5 A/F Allen key, clamp one 20 mm diameter drill bit
(clockwise) and one 10 mm diameter drill bit (anticlockwise) in two
chucks (marked black on right). The other chucks must be closed off
with a chuck plug so as to prevent the grub screw from working loose
and also to ensure effective protection from soiling.
Set drilling depth stop and lock in place with knurled nut. One 360°
turn corresponds to 1 mm. Carry out trial drillings to establish exact
drilling depth - refer to Section 3.1.
Loosen screws on fence with 6 A/F Allen key and set required edge
distance using the scale (see section 3.2) or, if a fixed stop (accessory,
order no. 020 487) is fitted, offer it up against the relevant stop bolt
and tighten again.
Edge distance according to scale (e.g. for VB 36) =
dimension 9.5
(spindle distance from „0" point on scale)
Set pendulum stops to the required dimension (right and left) using
the scale, refer to Section 3.3.
Warning:
Do not set any stops in the vicinity of the drilling head as this
may cause severe damage, e.g. to the drilling spindles and to the
gear unit.
Note:
Carry out trial drilling. Check dimensions.
5.3.2 Drilling
Insert workpiece, slide up to fence and pendulum stops. Switch on
motor at motor switch box and push drilling hand lever down as far
as stop.
Now, for example, Hettich connecting fitting VB 36/19 can be
inserted by hand.
Warning:
While the machine is running, keep your hands well away from
the drill bits due to risk of injury.
